Does this plane seat fly with you?

Chris Olsen, 43, who is based in San Diego as a government policy maker, made a TikTok showing a 'weird' airline seat that 'you have to see to believe.'

On a recent American Airlines flight from Phoenix to San Diego, the avid traveler landed in row 10 on an Airbus A321, which as his video shows, has two seats placed next to the crew jump seat which is facing the opposite way.

Chris' overlaid captions note that the 'flight attendant jump seat is where the window seat should be.'

He adds that not having a third seat in the row is 'nice if you're a couple' and it is located right by an emergency exit, so another perk is that you can 'jump right over... if needed.'

In a bid to gauge public opinion on the seat configuration, Chris asked viewers 'have you sat in the jump seat row before?'

The clip, which has been viewed more than 290,000 times, quickly garnered dozens of comments.

One commenter described this spot on the plane as their 'preferred seat.'

Similarly, another viewer said that they 'aim' for this seat every time they fly.

Serving up another plus point about the configuration, one contributor revealed: 'Had this seat on my last flight and was great.

'I put my bag under where the window seat would be.'

Chris also suggested that this seat would be great for nervous flyers.

Explaining his reasoning, he wrote: 'For nervous flyers I think the seats near the jump seats are comforting to be near the flight attendants and see them acting calmly.'

Another perk, Chris says, is that it is located right by an emergency exit, so you can 'jump right over... if needed'

However, some commenters vented their frustration around the seating arrangement.

One TikTok user wrote: 'This seat is the worst.

'AA has an up charge for this seat and they don't show the jump seat on the map. They are smaller than normal seats.'

Another viewer also highlighted that the seats are narrower than standard spots, so this can make it uncomfortable if sat next to strangers.

They vented: 'I sat there with a big a** dude on the aisle. Worse 2.5 hours of my life.'

In reaction to the comment, Chris says that he only recommends the jump seat row for 'couples or family or friends.'
