The youngster was cycling with his father in Maplewood when a driver ran a red light and slammed into him.

Video shows the sickening moment the silver Hyundai rolls over the boy and his bike he rode across a crosswalk.

As the car rolls to a stop, the boy's father is seen frantically opening the vehicle's doors.

The driver jumps out and both men try and fail to life the car. As they continue to struggle, a vehicle pulls over on the other side of the road and another motorist jumps out.

A fourth person runs over to help and they all begin attempting to tip the vehicle, getting help from more and more passersby.

Eventually they manage to life the car and the boy is lifted out and carried to the side of the road.

Saleit said he did not hesitate to act after witnessing the collision, which took place at around 11pm on July 4.

'There's a kid and he's suffering,' he said. 'His dad was crying, 'My son, my son, he's dying, he's dying.' It was very painful, to be honest,' he said.

Despite many people pitching in, the footage shows several drivers who continued without helping.

'It's weird for me like the people who… drove off without stopping like to help us. There's a kid under the car, he's in pain like he's going to lose his life, and they didn't stop at all. We should be, like, merciful in this life,' Seleit said.
