People on the web have shared the most chilling unsolved cases of all time - from the killer who still hasn't been caught despite murdering a woman on camera to the mysterious disappearance of a nine-year-old girl that ultimately sparked the creation of the Amber alert.

Over the years, dozens of gruesome murders and horrific kidnappings have left authorities stumped - eventually becoming cold cases.

Not only are the families of the victims still longing for answers, but in many cases, the perpetrators are walking free to this day - and unfortunately, they may never be resolved.

In some cases, the police were left with little to no leads, with the culprit disappearing into thin air without leaving a trace, while in others, more than one person seemed like they could have committed the crime, sparking a slew of theories and a heated debate.

Now, thanks to recent Reddit post, social media users are shining a light on some of the most unsettling crimes that were never solved.

In the Ask Reddit subreddit, a user who goes by Totsatot0 posted the question, 'What's a mystery you can't believe is still unsolved?' on Tuesday evening - and it sparked a furious conversation about infamous killings and disappearances that still remain a mystery.

One person was quick to bring up Elizabeth Barraza in the comments section - a Texas woman who was brutally shot to death in her driveway in 2019.

Surveillance footage captured the moment she was murdered - but law enforcement were never able to catch the killer.

The video showed the suspect, who appeared to be a woman dressed in a robe, getting out of a black pickup truck and walking towards Elizabeth, 29.

Upon approaching her, the killer lifted their arm and shot her at point-blank range, firing three times.

'It was caught on camera and the getaway vehicle was clearly seen,' the Reddit user said of the case.

'The murderer was speculated as being a woman or man in a wig. Truly bizarre.'

'Oh that one is wild,' someone else agreed, while another person added, 'Truly unfortunate [that] the camera angles are so close to revealing their identity by like mere centimeters and no cigar. Really don't understand the motive.'

Another Redditor said they're still upset that Amber Hagerman's case was never solved.

Amber's shocking 1996 abduction famously lead to the creation of the Amber alert.

The nine-year-old was snatched off her bike by a man in a black pickup truck in Arlington, Texas, and was found dead near a creek days later.

The suspect was described as being a white or Hispanic male in his 20s or 30s with dark hair.

Police believed he was local, but they never figured out who was behind the tragic killing.

The incident led Texas resident Diana Simone, who had been following the case, to reach out to a local radio station about putting an emergency alert system in place for child abductions.

'Amber Hagerman. She was about my same age and was killed in the city where I grew up,' the Redditor wrote.

'The Amber alert system in the US was named in her honor and has helped safely recover many abducted children.

'However, Amber's murderer was never found and the tip hotline for her case remains open.'

A different user said a mystery that still plagued them was the disappearance of Brandon Swanson - a Minnesota-based 19-year-old who crashed his car on the way home from a party.

He called his parents afterwards and gave them his location, but while they were on their way to pick him up, he suddenly exclaimed, 'Oh s**t,' and hung up the phone.

When they arrived, he was nowhere to be found and they haven't heard from him since.

While some believe he fell into a nearby river and died, his body was never discovered.

Someone else pointed out in the Reddit thread that Kyron Horman, who was seven when he vanished from Portland, Oregon, will turn 21 years old this year.

Kyron went missing from his school in 2010, and despite an extensive search by the police, no significant evidence regarding his disappearance ever came up and what happened to him still remains a mystery.

In court filings, Kyron's dad Kaine Horman said he believed his estranged wife, Terri, was 'involved' in his disappearance; she has denied his claims.

'As a native of the Portland Oregon metro area, it's really sad that Kyron Horman's disappearance is still unsolved. He will be 21 this year. Disappeared at seven,' the Reddit comment read.

'In Massachusetts there was a young girl named Molly Bish that disappeared from her post as a lifeguard,' someone else commented about a separate case.

'Her body was found three years later. 24 years later and her killer has never been found.'

Molly vanished while working at Comins Pond in Warren, Massachusetts, when she was just 16 years old in 2000. Her remains were discovered in the woods five miles away three years later.

Authorities never tracked down a killer, but her family is still fiercely dedicated to trying to find out what happened to her and often post about her online.

Other commenters brought up Sneha Philip, Terri 'Missy' Bevers, and JonBenét Ramsey's cases.

Sneha was a doctor who went missing in New York City the night before the Twin Towers terrorist attack on September 11, 2001.

She was last seen shopping at a downtown Manhattan department store on September 10, and was still missing the next morning when the 9/11 tragedy occurred.

What happened to her that night is unknown, but her family has insisted that she perished while helping victims in the wake of the attack - despite lack of evidence proving that she was near the World Trade Center.

Someone else cited Missy Bevers's case. She was found dead inside a Texas church in 2016, but the killer was never identified. She's seen before her death

But a police report suggested that Sneha had been living a double-life in the months prior to her disappearance, pointing to alleged drug and alcohol abuse, extramarital affairs with women, and a pending criminal charge where she was accused of filing a false criminal complaint with the Manhattan District Attorney's office.

In a separate case, Missy, 45, was found dead inside a Texas church in 2016, and the autopsy showed that she suffered from wounds to her head and chest.

A suspect carrying tools consistent with the injuries was spotted on security footage walking through the church, but no arrests were made in the case.

Meanwhile JonBenét's killing is one of the most baffling and notorious crimes in history, with millions across the globe becoming completely captivated by the case.

The six-year-old child pageant star was found dead in her basement in 1996 after she was strangled and beaten, and over the last nearly three decades, people have debated in droves about what really happened to her.

Some think it was her older brother who killed her, while others believe one of her parents did it or that it was a sadistic stranger.

Her family have vehemently denied any involvement in her death.

Hopefully, with the addition of new DNA technology some of these cases will get solved one day soon - but until then, they remain a mystery.
