Gypsy Rose Blanchard has made it clear she will be keeping her child out of the public spotlight as she opened up for the first time about her pregnancy.

The Munchausen-by-proxy victim, 32, announced that she was expecting her first child with her boyfriend, Ken Urker, in a video shared to her YouTube channel on Tuesday.

In her first interview since revealing the unexpected news, the reality star highlighted how her motherly instincts have already kicked in as she confirmed that she does not want her child to grow up 'in front of a camera'.

'I don't know what the future holds,' she explained on Friday's Good Morning America. 'But once the baby's born, I feel strongly that I don't want my baby to be in front of a camera... unless it's for home movies.'

She continued: 'I will not be putting my child in the media...at all. This world is so cruel and unsafe. There is a level of responsibility that I have to make sure that my child is protected.'

Gypsy was famously released from Chillicothe Correctional Center in Missouri in December, 2023, after serving the mandatory seven years of her 10-year sentence for conspiring to kill her mother, Dee Dee.

When asked how she planned to tackle the heavy subject with her child in the future, Gypsy candidly stated that the thought has 'plagued' her mind for years.

She stated: 'That question has plagued my mind for a long time. And I have come to a point where I understand that, that question with is going to be asked by my child some day.

'I feel like when that time comes, Ken and I will sit down and have that conversation, and I will explain in the most honest way possible.'

The Life After Lockup star has currently got another 11 months left of parole after being charged with second-degree murder over the 2015 death of her mother Claudine 'Dee Dee' Blanchard.

Due to her parole conditions, Gypsy can't even live with Ken, 31, despite their impending parenthood.

In fact, the jailbird-turned-reality star is still married to husband Ryan Scott Anderson, with the former couple's first divorce hearing set for July 29.

She first announced her separation from Ryan in March, before she revealed that she was back with Ken the following month.

Gypsy had a simple message for her ex during the chat as she stated: 'I hope he's doing okay, and I wish him the best, emotionally.'

However, the star made it clear that she is focusing on herself as she continued: 'I haven't had a moment to stop to think about anything else except, "Am I drinking enough water? Am I taking the prenatal vitamin?"

'I have so much to prepare for, to make sure I am healthy for this baby... nesting and everything.'

Due to the complicated timeline, Gypsy has had to hit back at naysayers who claim the baby's paternity is unclear.

She told GMA: 'This is absolutely 100 per cent Ken's baby. There was never any question of paternity.'

However, TMZ claims the reality star is making moves to speed up her divorce proceedings because a Louisiana law states that 'if the mother of a child is married to someone who isn't the biological father when the child was conceived - or has been divorced for less than 300 days at the time of birth - then her ex, or estranged husband, is presumed to be the father.'

Under the law, Ken will have to establish paternity through a DNA test after Gypsy and Ryan's divorce is finalized.

Despite the current headlines being made in reaction to her pregnancy, Gypsy gushed that she is 'excited' for this new chapter.

'At first I was very nervous but I am very excited. The mood swings are wicked,' she admitted.

Reflecting on the mixed reaction by the public, she added: 'I understand that with my past, people may question if I even should be a mother or should children in my care.

'I am not perfect, I made mistakes in the past, and I will probably make minor mistakes going forward. But, at the same time, I know right-from-wrong, and learning from past mistakes is a growth that comes with time.'

Gypsy highlighted the fact that she did not have the typical childhood and would be doing all that's in her power to avoid that similar fate for her own child.

'My mother did not want to see me meet those milestones that every child should have,' she recalled. 'Like going on a first date, or prom or a bike ride. All of those little milestone moments that make life worth living. I didn't get to have that.

'So, I want my child to have all of the things that he or she could ever want in life.'

The interview comes after Gypsy opened up about the fierce mood swings and emotional outbursts she's experienced while expecting her first child.

In her nine-minute-long YouTube clip, the felon opened up about everything from the pregnancy symptoms she's endured so far to how she planned to use what she went through as a child to be a better parent.

While discussing her pregnancy, Gypsy explained that looking back, there was one major change in her body that she completely overlooked at first: cravings.

She revealed that she suddenly started wanting orange juice all the time, but didn't think anything of it at first.

'The first thing that I noticed was the cravings. I craved orange juice, and orange juice was not something I craved on a daily basis before,' the 32-year-old dished.

'So when I started craving orange juice was just like, "OK. I guess I want orange juice. I didn't think anything of it."'

She explained that she soon started experiencing 'insatiable hunger' and recalled wanting to 'eat everything.'

'I really went on a binge and just started eating everything,' she continued. 'And then of course I missed my period.'

But Gypsy said she still didn't think she was pregnant because her doctor previously had 'tested her fertility' and had expressed concern over her ability to ovulate regularly.

She shared, 'I had seen my OBGYN and I had tested my fertility and she was like, "We're probably going to have to put you on fertility meds or something to make you ovulate because you're not ovulating on a regular."

'I had that appointment a month [before] so when I missed my period I thought I was just having issues with ovulation.'

But after discussing her symptoms with Ken, Gypsy said he encouraged her to take a pregnancy test - and she was stunned when it came back positive.

Gypsy revealed that she's now 11 weeks along, and admitted that she's since started suffering from 'crazy mood swings.'

'Poor Ken,' she joked. 'If he breathes wrong I am just [furious]. Pregnancy is not easy with the mood swings, but he's been very gracious and very forgiving about it.'

She also said she was 'always tired' - but added that she was 'very blessed' that her morning sickness hadn't been too bad.

And despite her intense emotions, she branded her pregnancy a 'breeze' so far.

'It's been completely manageable,' she insisted. 'I know it's still going to be a long journey ahead but I'm up for it.'

Their 'inseparable' bond ended when Gypsy burst free of her warped mom's control in 2015 by letting her besotted internet boyfriend, Nicholas Godejohn, creep into their Springfield, Missouri, home to stab 48-year-old Dee Dee to death.

She ultimately pleaded guilty to second-degree murder and spent nearly a decade locked up before she was granted early parole and released in late December.
