A remembrance vigil setup at Dr. Henry A. Wise Jr. High School in Maryland for recently killed Minnesota Vikings cornerback Khyree Jackson spawned more tragedy when a deadly shooting broke out.

One man died and a woman was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries in a shooting that took place after the vigil had finished, according to police.

The vigil was being held in memory of Jackson and fellow car-crash victims Isaiah Hazel and Anthony Lytton Jr. at the school where they starred on the football field.

The three were killed in the early-morning hours of July 6 after their car was struck by a woman, Cori Clingman, who was attempting to change lanes at a high rate of speed.

According to police, alcohol may have been a factor in the wreck.

Police are currently investigating what led to the shooting. According to Fox 5 DC, shots rang out in the parking lot in front of the school.

One victim was hit in the leg while the other was hit in the chest. Per the Baltimore Sun, a gun was recovered at the scene but no arrests have been made.

Police described the scene of the vigil as 'peaceful' in a Facebook Live Video, saying that police left once most of the crowd had dispersed but came back after hearing gunshots.

'They were flagged down by citizens who were actually performing life-saving measures on an adult female victim,' said Captain Sukhjit Batth, acting commander for the major crimes division of the Prince George's County Police Department.

'Officers located another adult male victim and with the help of our citizens on scene started performing life-saving measures.

'Both adult victims got transported to area hospitals. Unfortunately, our adult male victim was pronounced [dead] at the hospital.'

Jackson was taken in the fourth round of April's NFL Draft out of the University of Oregon. He was projected to be a contributor to the Vikings secondary in his rookie season.
