Trump shooter Thomas Matthew Crooks bought 50 rounds of ammunition hours before shooting, report claims

Donald Trump's would-be assassin purchased 50 rounds of ammunition just hours before the shooting, according to bombshell reports.

The Secret Service also did not sweep the roof where gunman Thomas Matthew Crooks opened fire at the former president.

The horrifying new developments reported by CNN come as the Secret Service faces mounting questions over how the 20-year-old managed to get just 130 yards from where Trump was speaking in Butler, Pennsylvania on Saturday. 

Crooks shot Trump in the ear with an AR-style rifle his father purchased legally.

A new video emerged on Monday shows Trump fans looking, pointing and questioning why Crooks was on the roof.

Trump turned his head to the side the exact moment a bullet his his right ear. He grabbed his head and ducked behind the podium before Secret Service created a wall around the former president. As blood streaked down his face, Trump raised his fist and shouted 'fight'

Multiple witnesses have said they warned law enforcement that a gunman was crawling on the building, but didn't respond before he started shooting. 

'Look, they're all pointing,' the man behind the camera is heard saying as it pans from the stage to the roof of an industrial building where a figure is seen crawling. 'Yeah someone's on top of the roof – look.'

The roof where Crooks lay down with his weapon was flagged as a security concern, and was swept by local law enforcement not the Secret Service. 

One bullet clipped the former president's ear, but his campaign says he is otherwise 'fine.'

A turn of his head to look at the jumbotron where charts of immigration statistics were on screen may have saved his life, according to his aides and analyses of the bullet's path.

Former fire chief Corey Comperatore, 50, was killed in the crosshairs of the attack as he protected his wife and two daughters. David Dutch, 57, and James Copenhaver, 74, sustained critical injuries but are now listed as 'stable.' All three are Pennsylvania natives. 

The video showing a new angle of the shooter moments before he opened fire reads on screen, 'Plenty of time and opportunity to eliminate the threat,' as questions circulate over where the security failure was that allowed for the assassination attempt.

'There he is, right there. See him?' the camera man says as he points to the figure of Crooks laying on his side atop the building in the video obtained by deaf North Carolina-based journalist Annie Dance.

Crooks is a registered Republican who donated $15 in January 2021 to a progressive group that backed President  Joe Biden.

A resident of Bethel Park, Crooks graduated from Bethel Park High School in 2022, the school district confirmed and agreed with full cooperation with investigators and law enforcement.
