Now FBI staffer is in hot water over vile posts about Trump's assassination attempt

An FBI staffer has been accused of posting a vile message where she expressed regret that Donald Trump was not killed in an assassination attempt on Saturday.

Jenna Howell, who reportedly works at the FBI'S research identity department, posted an image of the grim reaper trying to pick a Trump doll from a claw machine, according to The Federalist.

The caption read: 'Awww so close.'

Howell tagged a friend and added: 'The memes... the memes are gold. 

The FBI employee also shared a meme appearing to criticizing those denouncing the political violence.

The meme read: 'Y'all gun-toting, 2nd Amendment-loving hillbillies better just sit down and stay quiet unless you're gonna change your mind on gun control. 

Former FBI analyst Chris Toompas told The Federalist that he worked at the agency with Howell and that she used to be part of the NICS Firearms Background Check Unit.

Howell appears to have deleted her social media accounts. 

DailyMail.com has reached out to the Department of Justice for comment on this story.

On Monday investigators were hunting for any clues about what may have drove Thomas Matthew Crooks, 20, to carry out the shocking attack.

The FBI said they were investigating it as a potential act of domestic terrorism , but the absence of a clear ideological motive by the man shot dead by the Secret Service led conspiracy theories to flourish.

The FBI said it believes Crooks, who had bomb-making materials in the car he drove to the rally, acted alone.

Investigators have found no threatening comments on social media accounts or ideological positions that could help explain what led him to target Trump .

Trump said on social media the upper part of his right ear was pierced in the shooting.

But advisers said he was 'great spirits' ahead of his arrival Sunday in Milwaukee for the Republican National Convention.

Two spectators were critically injured, while a former fire chief from the area, Corey Comperatore was killed.

Pennsylvania’s governor said Comperatore, 50, died a hero by diving onto his family to protect them.
