Republican National Convention attendees and delegates say they love JD Vance as Donald Trump's vice presidential running mate, but some don't know who the freshman senator from Ohio is.
Trump announced Vance as his running mate Monday afternoon on Truth Social as MAGA fans gathered in a packed Fiserv Forum in downtown Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
To much applause, blaring country music and flashing lights, the 39-year-old Marine Corps veteran, 'Hillbilly Elegy' author and lawmaker entered the convention and accepted his official VP nomination.
It appeared the entire room had been Vance fans for years once the news came across the loudspeakers, given how loud the roar of approval was.
But when DailyMail.com pressed the MAGA fans on what they admire most about the Ohioan, his youth and good looks and military service were top of mind. But some revealed they did not know much about him at all.
U.S. Sen. J.D. Vance, R-Ohio, and his wife Usha Chilukuri Vance celebrate as he is nominated for the office of Vice President. Everyone who spoke to DailyMail.com about Vance's selection for VP had positive things to say about the young politician
'I don't know the gentleman,' Tina, a delegate from American Samoa, told DailyMail.com. ''But by looking and hearing that he is a senator from Ohio, I am at peace with that.'
'He's a handsome guy, he looks humble,' she said of her first impressions of Ohio's junior Senator. 'That tells me that Donald Trump and the whole RNC leadership have committed to pick the right candidate for vice president.'
She said she took the 24 hour trip to Milwaukee to see former President Donald Trump and experience the festivities first-hand.
Dale from Washington said 'I don't think we can do better' than Vance.
'I am thrilled to see JD Vance be the nominee for vice president. I think he is ideologically well aligned with Donald Trump.'
Dale added that Vance's youth could mean he picks up the MAGA mantle.
'I think he has a high potential to be our standard bearer four year from now and I am delighted with that,' he said.
Dale from Washington said Sen. JD Vance, R-Ohio, said the junior lawmaker would make a good standard bearer for the future of the Republican party. He said he was 'thrilled' at Trump's choice because the two are 'ideologically well aligned'
Terry and Tess from Tennessee were both ecstatic over Vance as Trump's running mate. Though Tess later admitted she did not know who Vance was before Monday
A crowd of RNC attendees turns to smile at the cameras as the event kicks off Monday
'I know that he came from a pretty humble beginnings and that he has excelled in life,' Dale continued. 'He's represented himself incredibly well in a variety of ways educationally, militarily and politically.'
A pair from ladies from Tennessee - Terry and Tess - also expressed their excitement about Vance's potential new job.
'We are so excited,' the giddy pair proclaimed.
'Especially I love the fact that he served in the Marine Corps,' Terry said. 'So we have a VP who understands and respects how important it is, our military, and it is a wonderful day for the Republican party.'
Tess, while still enthusiastic, may have not been as excited for the candidate as she was for the moment.
She admitted she did not know who Vance was before he was announced as Trump's running mate.
But, she added, 'President Trump, if he's for someone, I am for him.'
Though Tess does not know Vance, she said if Trump likes him that is good enough for her
Terry told DailyMail.com she knew the Ohio Republican, saying: 'He is a familiar name and face' from Newsmax and other conservative news outlets.
Vance was joined at the RNC festivities Monday by his wife Usha Chilukuri Vance, who, like the senator, graduated from Yale Law School.
The pair have been married for years and have three children together.
Bill from South Carolina pointed to Vance's classic conservatism and family image as a positive for the Republican presidential ticket.
Though, he said, Vance getting the VP nod did come as a shock.
'It was quite a surprise, but quite a pleasant surprise.'
'We've got a sharp young man, we've got a Marine, I'm proud military,' Bill told DailyMail.com. 'I am retired Air Force and to have a fellow serviceperson that could be vice president is fantastic news.'
Another South Carolinian, Jerry, agreed, calling Vance's nomination 'absolutely great.'
'I love the balancing the ticket,' he said, and 'I love a hard fighting young man to balance it out.'
Importantly, he noted, 'I think it will attract a lot of younger voters.'
'I knew he was a very good senator, believes in conservative principles and he was a fighter. Not somebody to be put in a corner, which I like, and he's a go getter.'
Air Force veteran Bill from South Carolina was excited that Vance, himself a veteran, got the nod to be Trump's VP. 'I am retired Air Force and to have a fellow serviceperson that could be vice president is fantastic news,' he said

'I believe he is going to support trump fully.'
