Sen. Tim Scott told a crowd of delegates at the Republican National Convention on Monday that the would-be assassin who shot at Donald Trump is the 'devil.'

A very pastoral-sounding Scott took stage just hours after he wasn't picked to be Trumps' vice presidential running mate despite making the short list.

He lauded Trump surviving the assassination attempt at his Butler, Pennsylvania rally on Saturday and called the former president an 'American lion.'

'Our God still saves, he still delivers,' Scott said on stage in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on Monday evening.

'On Saturday, the devil came to Pennsylvania holding a rifle, but an American lion got back up on his feet,' he added, referencing shooter Thomas Matthew Crooks, 20.

Scott said it was a 'miracle' that Trump survived – and his team and those analyzing the angle agree.

Trump turned his head to the right and looked at the jumbotron screen at his rally on Saturday at the exact moment a bullet grazed his right ear. If he had not made that movement, it's highly likely that the bullet would have struck him in the head and led to more critical injury – and possibly death.

'Listen, if you didn't believe in miracles before Saturday, you got to be believing right now,' Scott shouted into the microphone at the Republican Convention. 'I thank God Almighty that we live in a country that still believes in the King of Kings.'

Shooter Crooks was able to scale a rooftop of a manufacturing building 130 yards from the stage where Trump spoke to supporters in the swing state of Pennsylvania on Saturday afternoon.

He killed one man and critically injured two others, though they are now said to be in 'stable condition.'

Trump's ear was hit by the AR-style weapons that the 20-year-old used to carry out the attack. He ducked behind the podium before he was swarmed by members of his Secret Service security detail.

The next day, he flew to Milwaukee for the Convention and on Monday announced that he was picking Sen. J.D. Vance (R-Ohio) as his vice presidential candidate in November.

Scott was among Trump's shortlist for running mates, but didn't make the cut.

But the former 2024 contender is still backing Trump in his bid for the White House this year.

'This November, we are not deciding simply the fate for the next four years. We're setting a course for the next 40 years,' Scott said in stumping for Trump's reelection after he became the official nominee earlier on Monday.
