Disney World brutally axes beloved character after 50 years over fears his name is offensive to alcoholics

Walt Disney World is relaunching a fan-favorite attraction after making major updates, including renaming one its most popular characters.

The Country Bear Jamboree - a Magic Kingdom institution since 1971 - shut down in January of this year for a revamp.

Renamed 'Country Bear Musical Jamboree,' the animatronic crew of singing bears returns on Wednesday minus one beloved character.

Liver Lips McGrowl, a slightly chubby brown bear with pouty lips, was axed from the program over concerns his name is offensive, reported Inside The Magic.

The term 'liver lips' describes swollen lips due to excessive alcohol consumption and has also been used as a racial slur.

His appearance is largely unchanged, but he sports a bouncy head of blonde hair and a purple neck tie.

The revamped experience features a brand new script and score made up of Disney songs performed by musicians including Mac McAnally, Allison Russel, Chris Thile and Emily Ann Roberts, according to Variety.

The new setlist features a new original - and eponymous - song written for the attraction.

Other numbers include songs from new films such as Zootopia and Coco to classics from The Little Mermaid, Mary Poppins and The Jungle Book.

The only song that is from the original set list is 'Come Again,' the closing number.

Disney has splashed out on woke replacements for some of its best-loved theme rides since deciding to ditch them at the height of the George Floyd protests.

The corporation ordered the leveling of its Splash Mountain flume rides in 2020, deeming their references to the 1946 film Song of the South 'not appropriate in today's world'.

Tiana's Bayou Adventure, based on the 2009 animated film The Princess and the Frog, keeps Splash Mountain's DNA as a log-flume ride, but it's infused with music, scenery and animatronic characters inspired by 'Princess,' set in 1920s New Orleans.
