A British bride-to-be is in critical condition after the battery of an e-scooter exploded, causing the ceiling of a Paris nightclub to explode during her hen do.

Ffion Price, 28, was celebrating in the French capital earlier this month when the 'horrific' accident at the popular Pachamama club occurred, injuring three people.

A scooter being stored on the fourth floor of the building exploded, casing parts of the club ceiling and walls to collapse.

Ffion, of Brynmawr, south Wales, has remained in hospital in Paris since the July 6 horror, and is receiving treatment for a fractured skull, a fracture in her ear, and a bleed on the brain which required immediate surgery and a stay in intensive care.

A GoFundMe page has been set up by a family member to support Ffion and her fiancé, so far pooling more than £12,800.

The page says Ffion and her family are 'distraught' as they wait on positive news ahead of their planned wedding next month.

Ffion is expected to stay in hospital for at least another week, the family say, expressing hopes the money raised will help make Ffion's return 'as comfortable as possible... so she can marry the love of her life in just six weeks'.

Monique Prince, her cousin, said that the 'freak and horrific' incident 'turned what should have been one of the best weekends of her life upside down'.

As many as 607 people have already sent money to help Ffion in her recovery, sharing touching tributes and best wishes in her recovery.

Ffion’s fiancé Chris Dunne, 29, said on Facebook that he was 'overwhelmed by the support off everyone'.

'We can't thank you enough,' he wrote, adding: 'So proud of her'.

The collapse of a wall at the Pachamama Paris nightclub - near the historic Place de la Bastille - on a busy Saturday night left three injured and dozens more shaken late on July 6.

Some 140 people are believed to have been partying in the club when a scooter battery on the fourth floor exploded and brought down part of the building.

People all the way down on the ground floor were injured from the blast, Le Parisien reported at the time.

Two people were injured, bruised and treated without being taken to hospital, while Ffion required more comprehensive care.

The owner of the scooter was later questioned by police and the club forced to shut its doors around 2:50am.

The owner said they planned to reopen the following weekend and, at the time of writing, the club is listed as being open.

Revellers were left 'traumatised' by the shock collapse, Sortir a Paris reported at the time.

The blast was reported to have caved in a section of wall, sending plaster debris out across the atrium onto the first floor.

The owner claims it was this debris that caused the injuries, Le Parisien reported.

Workers attended the scene the next day to clear rubble and prepare the club for reopening within the week.

Pachamama is a club and restaurant on the rue de Faubourg Saint Antoine near Place de la Bastille.
