If you've ever wanted to turn back the clock when it comes to your complexion, you may just be in luck.

Beverly Hills-based facial plastic surgeon Dr. Sarmela Sunder has revealed six of her top anti-aging tips in a new video series on TikTok, and many of them only require small tweaks to your daily routine.

Dr. Sunder, who has her own practice, Sunder Plastic Surgery, often takes to social media to share her expertise, and this time was no different.

Her pointers don't come with a hefty price tag, either - which means that you don't have to waste your money on any expensive skincare devices and creams as seen on social media that promise an 'ageless' look.

So, for now, forget about that pricey treatment you were saving up for, and try these fixes instead.

Age in reverse! Dr. Sunder's top tips
  • Avoid sleeping on your side
  • Don't drink out of a straw
  • Avoid exercises that cause neck strain
  • Don't use hot water to wash your face
  • Don't tug or pull the area around your eyes
  • Avoid 'crazy' facial exercises

Avoid sleeping on your face

According to the plastic surgeon, you should try to sleep on your back instead of sleeping sideways on your face.

Believe it or not, sleeping on your face or even the stomach can have some very serious consequences when it comes to aging.

'When you sleep on your face and apply pressure to certain areas, you develop these sleep lines that turn into wrinkles over time,' Sunder explained in the clip.

These lines can occur on the cheek, neck and around the base of your jawline, per Today.

However, if sleeping on your back isn't quite comfortable for you, Sunder offered another solution.

'If you can't sleep on your back, at the very least, get a sleep or wrinkle pillow that can support your head from above and below so that you don't put any pressure on the sides of your face,' she explained.

These include silk or satin pillowcases, which can help to lessen any tugging or 'abrasion' on the skin while you sleep, per Allure.

Stop drinking from straws

If you like to drink your beverages from a straw, you may want to think again.

'Repeatedly pursing your lips can create vertical lip wrinkle lines,' Sunder explained, as she pointed to the area right above your top lip, close to your nose.

'These are also called "smokers lines," but you don't need to be a smoker to get them,' she added.

Thankfully, though, this is an easy fix for this one.

Of course, the easiest one may just be to cease your straw usage, but there are also tons of straws on the market now that have been designed to prevent lip wrinkles for this very reason.

You can find them on platforms like Amazon or even at Walmart.

Avoid any exercises that strain your neck muscles

While it's good to get that sweat in at the gym, you should be wary of doing any exercises that will strain your neck muscles, the plastic surgeon explained.

'Repeated straining of the neck muscles create formation of these vertical neck bands that will make your neck age much faster than the rest of your face,' Sunder shared.

In a caption on the video, the expert added that many times, people will end up straining their neck muscles during certain exercises, when it really should becoming from the core.

Neck bands are two strips of muscle that run down the side of your neck vertically, per Healthline, also called the platysma.

As a bonus tip, the outlet also suggested taking a look at yourself in the mirror while you exercise to keep an eye out on how your neck muscles are moving.

Never wash your face with hot water

Strangely enough, the water temperature we use to shower and wash our face can have a serious effect on our skin.

'Hot water can deplete the skin of its natural moisture barrier,' Sunder explained to viewers in the second part of her video series.

As a result, your skin can become dry, irritated and even rashes, according to a repot by NBC News.

The length of the shower you take can also contribute to the water's effect on your skin.

So, instead of going for that steaming hot shower, the doctor recommended using lukewarm or even cold water when you're washing your face in order to protect the skin barrier.

Try not to rub the skin around your eyes

The skin on your face is more delicate and thinner than the skin on the rest of your body, especially around your eyes.

Because of this, you need to take extra care and avoid rubbing or tugging the skin in that area when removing makeup or putting on product, Sunder explained.

'Tugging and rubbing the skin not only causes wrinkles, but can also lead to increased hyperpigmentation around the eyes,' she said.

Some experts also recommend using your ring finger when applying under eye creams or product to the area, as it has a more gentle and light touch.

Avoid any 'crazy' facial exercises

While you may be tempted to try out some of those viral anti-aging facial exercises as seen on TikTok, it may actually have the opposite effect, according to the doctor.

'Facial exercises that cause hyperactive facial movement... actually cause more wrinkles,' she explained, as she paused to show viewers what she meant.

Some of the facial exercises she demonstrated included repeatedly raising her eyebrows up high and opening up her mouth extremely wide.

Avoiding these kinds of repetitive facial movements is definitely recommended as you embark on your anti-aging journey.
