A new mother says she was attacked and sexually assaulted while walking her newborn in an upscale Los Angeles neighborhood.
Carmina Lu, a director at UCLA Health, was walking her four-week-old baby in Brentwood when she was reportedly approached from behind by the suspect on Tuesday.
She told KTLA the shirtless white male, who appeared to be in his 20s, 'grabbed her by the hips with both of his hands and started sexually assaulting her.'
The suspect punched Lu in the face several times when she tried to defend herself, leaving her with a split lip, cuts under on her face and a scalp injury that needed staples.

'It was really awful,' Lu told the local news outlet. 'I just would never expect anything like this to happen, especially one month after giving birth to a beautiful baby.'

Lu added that her baby was unharmed, which was her biggest fear.
Neighbors responded to the situation after hearing Lu's screams.
The suspect fled the scene as he claimed he had touched the woman because there was a bee on her.
Other neighbors had an earlier encounter with the suspect, which was recorded on surveillance footage.
The man was seen taking off his shirt and waving it as he said he was rooting for Argentina in the Copa America, which had already ended on Sunday.
The suspect reportedly also said his mother lived in the area and that he could speak Farsi and a bit of Spanish.
