UFC President Dana White introduced Donald Trump's headline address with a tribute to his longtime friend as the 'toughest, most resilient human being' where he choked back emotion.

After White agreed to speak just before Trump, the ex-president texted him and thanked him. He apologized for the fact that he would have to cut out early on a family trip.

'Think of it as the biggest fight that you ever had. A fight for our country and even the world. I only wish you did not have to interrupt your family trip but I hope they understand, they love you, and they know how important this is,' Trump had said, according to White.

'This man's running for President of the United States, he's fighting for the future of this country, and he's concerned about interrupting my family trip,' White said.

'This man is running for president of the United States. He is fighting for the future of this country. He is concerned about interrupting my family trip. That is the president trump that I know. A man who truly cares about people,' he went on.

'The mainstream media likes to push the narrative that he does not care about anybody but himself. But I know that is not the truth because I have been friends with this guy for 25 years.'

'This man is the toughest, most resilient human being that I have ever met in my life,' he said, tearing up in an emotional tribute.

'How great was Dana?' Trump said in his own address. 'He was on probably the only vacation he's taken, ever.' The former president said White had promised his wife the vacation for 'many years,' but White's wife told him 'you can't turn [Trump] down.'

White and Trump's friendship dates back decades, after Trump welcomed the UFC into his now-defunct 'Trump Taj Mahal' in New Jersey amid a campaign to ban the sport that late Sen. John McCain once branded as 'human cockfighting.'

'This brand was so bad, venues didn't even want us. Arenas didn't want us,' White said in 2022.

But when New Jersey legalized the sport in 2000, 'Trump literally called us. He said 'Come to my place, do the event here. We'll have you at the Trump Taj Mahal.'

Not without controversy, White last year apologized for slapping his wife after the encounter was caught on video.

The 55-year-old White, who has an estimated worth of $500million after building the UFC up into a global money-spinning franchise, has been married to his wife for 27 years, since 1996, and they have three children together.

They were celebrating New Year's Eve at El Squid Roe in Cabo San Lucas. Video shows White appearing to say something to Anne, who reacts by slapping him. He then slaps her back before the pair are split up.

The UFC chief said: 'My wife and I were out Saturday night on New Year's Eve. Unfortunately that is what happened.'

'I am one of the guys who says there is never, ever an excuse for a guy to put his hands on a woman and now here I am on TMZ talking about it.

'This is one of those situations that is horrible. I am embarrassed. We have three kids and since the video popped up, we have shown the kids and we are more focused on our family right now.
