Angel Reese has insisted she is happy to put her fierce rivalry with Caitlin Clark to one side on Saturday night as the two rival rookies line up for the WNBA All-Star team.

Reese and Clark have propelled interest in the WNBA to new levels with their college rivalry continuing in their rookie seasons. Clark was the first pick in this year's draft, going to Indiana Fever, while Reese went seventh to Chicago Sky.

Since then, Clark has been targeted mostly by the Sky - with Chennedy Carter shoving her to the ground in a game against the Fever, while Reese herself said Clark has a 'special whistle' after she was ejected for a challenge on the No 1 pick last month.

But now the rivals are set to become teammates for a day, and Reese is relishing hte opportunity.

'That's what everybody wants to see,' she told ESPN. 'I'm looking forward to it. Everybody can wear their 'Get Along' shirts together for one day, at least.

'So I know a lot of people are going to come and watch us, to see all of us, but there's a lot of talent within both rosters of the teams, so they're in for a good one.'

She continued: 'We haven't had a talk yet, obviously everybody can cheer for us both for one day - it's going to be cool. I'm excited, this is going to be the first of many.

'We're going to be on All-Star teams together in the future, Olympic teams together (holds up crossed fingers) in the future too. I'm just excited just to be here in this moment. I'm happy.

Reese also revealed the one thing from Clark's game that she wishes she could add to her own game.

'Obviously her passing - her passing is great. I'm excited just to be able to play off of her and see what we can both do,' she said.

Reese also revealed that her mom and brother will not be at Saturday night's game in Phoenix, Arizona after flights were grounded worldwide as part of a Microsoft outage.

Clark, meanwhile, had nothing but respect for Reese after the two practiced together on Friday.

'It's super rare to be here as a rookie and then to have two of us is really great overall,' the Fever star said. 'I think it's going to continue to help grow the game.'

After Saturday's game, the WNBA will be on hiatus until August 15 due to the Olympics, giving Clark and Reese a needed break.

'I've been playing basketball for a year straight," Clark said. "It's not an easy thing to just show up to and shoot off of a rack.

'It's not something I've ever done before. It's not something I've had a lot of time to practice.'.
