Donald Trump slammed Joe Biden as the 'worst president' in history in the moments after his Democratic rival dropped out of the 2024 race.

Trump told CNN that Biden 'is the worst president in the history of our country. He goes down as the single worst president by far in the history of our country.'

He also Vice President Kamala Harris will be easier to defeat than Biden would have been.

The former president also took to Truth Social to say Biden only became president 'by lies, Fake News and not leaving his basement.'

'We will suffer greatly because of his presidency, but we will remedy the damage he has done very quickly. MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!,' he wrote.

The Trump campaign has been preparing for the possibility Biden would exit the race.

The former president has been attacking Harris more at his rallies as Democrats pressured Biden to step down.

His campaign also had research prepared on Harris' record and attack ads at the ready.

A super PAC supporting Trump has already released an attack on Harris, allegedly: 'Kamala was in on it. She covered up Joe's obvious mental decline….Kamala knew Joe couldn't do the job, so she did it. Look what she got done: a border invasion, runaway inflation, the American Dream dead.'

Biden upended the presidential race on Sunday with his shocking announcement he will drop his re-election bid.

'While it has been my intention to seek reelection, I believe it is in the best interest of my party and the country for me to stand down and to focus solely on fulfilling my duties as President for the remainder of my term,' he wrote in a letter to the American people.

He then endorsed Harris to replace him although it's unclear if she will ultimately be the nominee.

Polls show Trump would be Harris if she were the Democratic nominee.

A YouGov poll conducted last week found 39 percent of respondents would vote for Harris while 44 percent for Trump.

The Democrats will nominate their candidate at their convention next month.

The Democratic National Convention is set to kick off August 19 through 22 in Chicago where Biden had been set to formally accept the nomination having received 3,896 delegates during the primaries.

Because Biden exited the race before officially becoming the nominee - the more than 3,900 pledged delegates get to cast their ballots in an open convention for whichever candidate they want.

They may line up behind Harris, who, because of federal law, is the only candidate that can use the money Biden has raised for the 2024 race.

The delegates will hold a vote on the convention floor.

If a candidate wins the majority of pledged delegates on the first ballot, they become the party nominee.

If no candidate gets a majority, then the so-called nearly 740 superdelegates, also known as automatic delegates, get to vote as well. They include a mix of party members and elected officials.

Voting continues until a candidate gets a majority of delegates.
