A state-of-the-art air fryer discovered at Goodwill for a mere $5 was revealed to contain a stomach-churning surprise - a chunk of an old sandwich.

In a video posted on TikTok, a shopper could be seen standing next to the snazzy kitchen appliance.

'I'm like dang, instant pot air fryer at Goodwill for $5,' she said, before pulling on its handle and revealing the moldering piece of food.

'Oh it comes with a free sandwich,' she said.

At this point, the camera zoomed in on the chunk of uneaten food.

Between the two pieces of yellowish bread, there seemed to be slices of an indiscriminate deli meat, as well as some old cheese.

Around the sandwich, the air fryer's tray appeared to be coated with oil and grease.

'Oh, my God,' the man recording the clip moaned, clearly nauseated.

The TikTok, which was posted unapologeticallykristen_,was humorously captioned: 'This should be illegal.'

The air fryer in the video resembled the Instant Vortex 2QT Mini Air Fryer, which is sold at Walmart for $76.44.

'Gross,' one user wrote, adding a vomiting emoji.

'That's nuts,' another surprised commenter remarked.

'GASP,' someone said, simply.

'You can't tell me NO ONE opened that before putting it on the shelf,' another viewer wrote.

Other commenters expressed their astonishment that the sandwich didn't appear to have any mold.

'I'm concerned that there's no mold,' one person wrote.

Another user echoed this sentiment, commenting: 'it doesn't have mold????'

In the comment section, people also shared stories of similar incidents at Goodwill.

One person wrote: 'I bought a thermos one time for $2 and it was full of coffee.'

Another user said that they found 'Hillshire Farm lunch meat' in an item the last time she shopped there.

Many people also remarked that they still would have purchased the air fryer, notwithstanding the piece of sandwich.

'That's nuts. But I'd probably still buy it. Dawn soap takes anything out,' one woman wrote.

Another user commented: 'my toxic trait is that I'd still buy it because it's cheap and so is dish soap.'
