A mom has revealed her genius parenting hack to make sure her young son never gets bored with his toys.

Kaylee Opatich, from Boston, Massachusetts, took to TikTok to detail how she keeps one-year-old Greyson occupied for longer during playtime.

The doting mother, who is currently expecting baby number two, shared how she enforces a 'monthly toy rotation' to keep things fresh.

She said that her method is 'pretty easy to manage' - before gushing about how it 'sparks interest a little bit more' with her tot.

In her original clip, Kaylee panned around her home to show the organizational system in action as she swapped one set of toys for another.

She then explained in the caption: 'I've been doing this since he was only a few months old and I swear by it.

'He loves to play independently and these toy rotations keep him interested in the toys we have.

'I have a big bin of extra toys that I can pick from but most the time I will just switch the placement of the toy and it does the trick.

'We also do this with our books and he loves to read the "new ones" that I put out.'

Following the widespread interest in the technique, the mom then posted a follow-up video in which she documented her step-by-step tutorial.

'First I empty out the stuff I want to rotate and keep the things that he actually still uses,' she explained.

'I feel like its easier to start with the books, so I'll take all of those out and put them in the [holding] bin. We have a bin full of books that we like to cycle through.'

Kaylee shared that if she notices Greyson has not been playing with some of his toy collection she will switch them up to encourage him to interact.

Panning the rest of the collection, she shared: 'For the shelves, I really just take all of these off and then I will replace them with the stuff we have extra in the drawer.'

She explained how some of the toys do stay the same but that the majority gets an overhaul every 30 days or so.

'There's really no science to it, just whatever I think he might play with in a different area.'

Kaylee has since shared with Newsweek: 'We live in a small house in Boston, so we don't have a lot of space, and kids accumulate a lot of stuff.

'We also have a very generous family that blesses us with gifts. We try to keep things to a minimum, and ask for small toys, but then my dad will be like, "Here's a big dinosaur," or something, and we don't want to limit that.

'By giving them just a few toys to play with, it really engages their attention, and lets them focus, instead of jumping from one to another because they're overstimulated.'

She also branded the monthly routine 'pretty easy to manage.'

Kaylee explained: 'Honestly, it takes maybe 30 minutes or so now that I have a process down. I think doing it every four to six weeks is the sweet spot for us.'

Not only does Kaylee rotate his toys, but she also switches up his room layout.

The doting mom told the outlet: 'The visual part is also really big for younger kids. It kind of sparks their interest a little bit more.

'In the beginning I'm always like, "I don't not want to do this," but you see the reward...

'What I'm doing might not work for everyone but if it works for a few people, if it makes their life easier and more enjoyable, then I love that. Just have fun with it.'
