A Tennessee restaurant employee has gone viral online after revealing what she and nine of her co-workers have in common - they're all young women with blonde hair.
The server, who goes by the name Jessie online, posted a viral video on TikTok last week of herself and her fellow workers β who were coincidentally young, blonde-haired girls βand wrote, 'the hiring manager had a type.'
'Can I interest you in a little blonde server - or the other little blonde server?,' she wrote in the video's description.
Jessie and her nine co-workers - who all flashed smiles for the video in turn - are employees at a Tennessee restaurant called Lakeside Tavern.
It's unclear how long Jessie has been working at the Knoxville restaurant, but she claimed to have been named its employee of the month back in 2022.
A restaurant employee named Jessie posted a viral video last week that revealed at least 10 employees at a Tennessee restaurant are young women with blonde hair
Despite the hilarious clip showing off the blonde staff members, Jessie proved that Lakeside Tavern does in fact hire people with different hair colors.
She posted two other videos showing her other colleagues on July 4 - one of which had dark colored hair, and another who was male.
Social media users were quick to comment on how similar all of the women looked, with one writing: 'I just know everyone gets their waitress confused.'
Another added: 'My waitress was the blonde one!' And a third said: 'I would remember no ones name.'
Other users complimented the staff members, writing 'I'm a kid in a candy store. No bad choices,' while another hilariously commented 'Where is this place? A friend of mine wants to know.'
Jessie has worked at Lakeside Tavern in Knoxville for at least two years, and one of her recent videos proved she works with employees who are male or have dark hair
Workplaces are required to follow laws enforced by the DOL through the Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs and the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission
Only hiring blonde-haired employees - which Lakeside Tavern clearly does not - could be a violation of Department of Labor (DOL) laws.
DOL officials enforce over 180 laws through two agencies: the Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) and the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), according to its website.
The EEOC protects employees from discrimination that includes age, religion, marital status, pregnancy, country of origin, disability, sexual orientation, and gender.
Another issue that could be a game changer for workplaces is so-called 'pretty privilege' - a term used by many Gen Zers online to describe individuals who may have more opportunities due to their looks.
'Pretty privilege is a pervasive but often overlooked phenomenon in the workplace,' a law article on JD Supra read.
'By acknowledging its existence and taking proactive steps to address it, employers and employees can create a more inclusive and equitable work environment where individuals are valued for their skills, contributions, and character, rather than their appearance.'
