The young woman known for her explicit 'Hawk Tuah' catchphrase has debuted a song in which she jokingly breaks down the meaning of her raunchy expression to her grandmother.
Haliey Welch, 22, shot to fame over the summer after she used the term 'hawk tuah' to describe spitting as part of a sexual act during an on-street interview that went viral.
In the weeks since, she's been making the most of her suddenly public persona, from launching a line of merch to appearing on stage at a Zach Bryan concert and touring NYC.
At the same time, many have derided Haliey's overnight popularity by mocking the X-rated nature of her catchphrase, with haters sarcastically sneering about how proud her parents or grandparents must be of her.

Now, Haliey, in collaboration with celebrity TikTok musician Jax Writes Songs, has debuted short and sweet jingle explaining the meaning of 'hawk tuah.'
The ditty also fills in some crucial biographical blanks in Haliey's backstory.
'This is Haliey and she went to the University of Northern Alabama,' Jax began singing, accompanying the pair on her keyboard.
'But she had to drop out to pay the bills...,' Jax went on.
'And take of my grandma,' Haliey chimed in.
'And then she went viral so she made some cash / But Granny keeps asking her what hawk tuah means / So we wrote this song for Haliey's grandma,' Jax continued.
'To explain myself to the elderly,' Haliey sung.
The two then switched back and forth for the remainder of the melody.
The song was structured as a call and response between Jax and Haliey, with the latter chiming in with several interpretations of what exactly is implied by hawk tuah
For instance, 'Hawk Tuah means / Being selfless,' according to the pair
The phrase can also mean that 'you care,' the song continues to explain

Thousands took to the comments of the video to applaud Haliey's efforts in the context of her new song.
