Billionaire philanthropist Melinda French Gates has officially endorsed a presidential candidate - but it won't be Donald Trump or Robert F. Kennedy, Jr.
The wealthy former wife of Bill Gates will be throwing her influence behind Vice President Kamala Harris for the 2024 presidential race.
Gates, 59, took to social media platform X on Tuesday to declare her support for Harris, praising the VP's leadership skills and commitment to change.
'I am proud to support Vice President Harris. During her years in the White House, she has proven that she knows how to lead through crises while pushing for the change we need. I want her fighting for our country for the next four years.'
French Gates, whose fortune is estimated at a staggering $13 billion, emphasized the need for a leader who champions women's rights and fights for reproductive freedom across the country.

'There is so much riding on the election in November. We need a leader who will stand up for reproductive freedom. A leader who understands that supporting caregivers leads to healthier families and a stronger economy,' she wrote on X.
She also highlighted Harris's efforts to tackle racial disparities in maternal health care, and lead on affordable childcare and elder care policies.
'She has been crisscrossing the country to make the case for reproductive rights while courts and state legislatures are trying to take them away.
'She spearheaded legislation to eliminate racial disparities in maternal health care. She is leading on policies to make paid leave, child care, and elder care more affordable for families.'
She said Harris knowns that when women have their 'full power' in society, all thrive.

The announcement comes hot on the heels of Gates' previous endorsement of President Joe Biden, who has since dropped out of the race.
The tech mogul's ex-wife, who recently stepped down from her role at the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and has been routinely named one of the world's most powerful women by Forbes magazine, is now wielding her influence in the political arena.
Earlier this year, French Gates admitted to voting Republican in some elections.

'I think — first of all, I think it's really important to say that I have voted in some elections Republican and some elections Democratic,' French Gates said to CBS Mornings in June. 'But in this election, I cannot vote for a man who rolls back women's reproductive rights and says the heinous things that he says about women. So, I absolutely am not voting for Trump, and I will vote for Biden.'

A Morning Consult poll taken the day of, and immediately after, Biden dropped out of the race on Sunday shows Trump ahead of Harris by 47 percent to 45 percent.
Two other polls taken between Friday and Sunday had Trump ahead by up to 9 percentage points - a gap larger than he was leading Biden by.
