Wendy's has made it their mission to brighten up customers' mornings by making a fan favorite breakfast item just $1.

'Monday mornings are the unhappiest time of the week, so Wendy's is waking fans up with a breakfast deal to sweeten the A.M' the company said in on Monday.

The fast-food chain has reintroduced Honey Buddy breakfast sandwiches, previously called Honey Butter Chicken Biscuits, during breakfast hours now for just $1 a pop.

The sandwiches, a biscuit topped with fried chicken covered in maple honey butter, will be available at Wendy's location until Monday, September 30.

There are a few other catches to scoring the deal.

Customers can only get the cheap treat when purchasing another item at the same time.

While the morning-pick-me-up is available every day, it can only be purchased once a week.

To bag a Honey Buddy customers can select the '$1 breakfast sandwich with any purchase' deal from the 'offers' tab on the Wendy's app.

The option to add a Honey Buddy and another item to the basket will then appear.

The item can also be purchased in-person at restaurants by scanning the in-app offer.

Chains are reeling from falling customer numbers as Americans fed up with two years of price rises stay away - so are rolling out offers.

McDonald's introduced a $5 deal last month - which includes either a McChicken or McDouble, four-piece chicken nuggets, fries and a drink - to offer 'meaningful value' to customers.

At first introduced for a short period it has now been extended through the rest of the summer at most of its restaurants.

Since it launched, the meal 'is meeting the objective of driving guests back to our restaurants,' according to an internal memo seen by Bloomberg

Burger King's $5 Your Way Meal - which is very similar to McDonald's - also hit restaurants in June.

Customers get a choice of one of three sandwiches - a Whopper Jr, a Bacon Cheeseburger or Chicken Jr - plus four chicken nuggets, fries and a soft drink.

Starbucks also made a surprise entry into the value war with a coffee and food breakfast combo from $5.
