One performer suffered an embarrassing X-rated wardrobe malfunction during the opening ceremony for the Paris Olympics

On Friday night, the competing nations sailed down the city's River Seine in a radical departure from previous Games ceremonies to mark the opening of the tournament.

Performances from the likes of Lady Gaga and Celine Dion were expected to steal the show however eagle-eyed viewers have noted one other performer who's caught attention.

During the opening ceremony, as pointed out by a user on X, one performer's testicle appeared to be hanging out of their underwear as the cameras panned across their boat.

It looks as though the performer's shorts had managed to ride up his leg and thus lead to the embarrassing wardrobe malfunction.

France's unique plan to hold the opening event outdoors rather than inside a stadium failed spectacularly this evening as Parisians, celebrities, politicians and royals from all over the world were forced to shelter from the horrendous rain.

And as President Emmanuel Macron declared the games had begun, the Olympic flag was raised at Place du Trocadero. But eagle-eyed viewers were quick to notice it had been placed on the poll the wrong way in yet another blunder.

Athletes on Team GB's boat - lead by flag bearers diver Tom Daley and rower Helen Glover, with tennis stars Andy Murray and Katie Boulter onboard - decided to embrace the poor weather, forgoing raincoats and umbrellas as they beamed and waved to fans.

Murray shared a screenshot of one fan's sage advice on his Instagram - not to stay out in the rain as he may 'rust' - after he uploaded stories of him waving the Union Flag as Great Britain's flotilla sailed down Paris' Seine river.

The Scot kept a sunny disposition regardless, as he readies himself for his final tournament as a professional tennis player.

He announced on Tuesday that he was calling time on a heavily successful career as he arrived in Paris ahead of his fifth Olympic Games.

There was plenty of other entertainment on display too, with a fashion show taking place on a bridge as others showed off tricks on bikes.
