As Daniel Craig's Loewe ad leaves people hot under the collar, how 'guinea pig men' are set to triumph on the dating scene this summer (but don't confuse them with hot rodents!)

Hot rodent men are old news, replaced by a new incarnation that is sweeter and softer - but still a rodent.

Dubbed the 'Guinea pig man' (GPM), the latest kind of global heartthrob describes a man getting even better with age, with Bond star Daniel Craig, 56, leading the herd.

Are you after an experienced man impassioned by the classics, whether music or film, with a hipster fashion sense and a slight edge? Then you're type is the Guinea pig man.

Daniel Craig's latest campaign with Spanish fashion house Loewe is largely responsible for the term, according to The Times.

In the ad campaign, the actor abandoned the alpha male masculinity associated with 007 for high fashion and much better hair. Free, flowing locks are a defining characteristic of a GPM and a reflection of the inner workings of their personalities.

Daniel's enviable hair, yellow-tinted glasses, and chunky patterned knits crafted a look so distant from the alpha Bond that fans dubbed him almost unrecognisable.

In one shot, a white vest covers his torso, teamed with bright yellow trousers. In another, his army pants slot into chunky leather boots, as he poses with either hand behind his head as if sunbathing.

It's a sense of nonchalance that only a guinea pig man could display, waving goodbye to the smouldering stares and intensely flexed muscles that alphas often show on perfume ads.

They're full of character, assured of themselves, and fun, making them the ideal heartthrob.

How does GPM differ from hot rodents? The latter are loyal, unconventionally attractive, with sharp eyes and angular faces.

Zendaya's blockbuster film Challengers encouraged the rodent, thanks to leading stars Mike Faist and Josh O'Connor's hot rodent qualities.

Elsewhere, pop sensation Sabrina Carpenter has bagged herself a hot rodent boyfriend with Barry Keoghan, and fans of The Bear consider Carmy, played by Jeremy Allen White, to have an endearing yet rodent-like appearance.

On the flipside, Guinea pig men include the likes of Ryan Gosling, Kit Harrington, and Glen Powell - men that, during their youth, might have been considered a hot rodent, but are now lighter, softer versions.

American actor Glenn Powell, 35, is also a member of the clan, thanks to his fun-loving personality 

Game of Throne star Kit Harrington might fall under the category of a Guinea Pig Man.

He attends star-studded events donning designer gear, but the 37-year-old still manages to appear low maintenance.

Kit also ticks the criteria of being self-assured and confident, with his latest job proving how comfortable he is in his own skin.

He's currently performing in Slave Play at the Noël Coward Theatre and ticket holders are said to be provided with a special sticker to cover their phone's cameras upon entry.

A source told The Sun: 'The sex scene Kit's in is quite shocking. There are lots of mirrors on stage so the audience can see his tackle from all angles.

'The scene lasts more than ten minutes and bosses seem very concerned about it being recorded and leaked online — hence the stickers.'

Before adding: 'Management really want to protect his modesty, so they've threatened legal action if anyone is caught filming.'

The actor, who hails from Austin, Texas, has enjoyed a recent transition into super stardom.

But his masculinity does not stop him from enjoying the odd TikTok dance, with him recently welcoming the start of brat girl summer with his Twisters co-stars.

Charli XCX fans have shown their allegiance to brat girl summer via the viral Charli XCX TikTok dance to her hit song Apple.

Created by TikTok user Kelley Heyer last month, the simple routine quickly took the internet by storm.

Powell was no exception, with Daisy Edgar-Jones sharing a video of herself with him and co-star and Anthony Ramos performing the dance to the catchy Charli XCX song.

Daisy captioned the Instagram post, 'Caught the lads up on Brat summer.' Glen cheekily commented, 'Hard to remember my life before this dance. Thank you, Daisy.'

Elsewhere, Ryan Gosling also fits the category, with the actor renowned for his lovable persona.

He's performed in a series of critically acclaimed films, from Bladerunner to La La Land and Drive.

But despite his success, the 43-year-old has no problem in taking less serious, playful roles, like Ken in Barbie.

It makes sense then, that his number one fan in the acting world, Austin Butler, has adopted a similar Guinea Pig look, giving himself a quirky edge like Gosling.

While promoting his latest film The Bikeriders, on Today, the Golden Globe winner, 32, told anchor Savannah Guthrie about one actor he was too shy to talk to after what could have been a spontaneous meeting.

'I was just telling that story about getting starstruck by Ryan Gosling recently,' he said.

'It's when you don't expect to see somebody,' he relayed, adding, 'so I saw him outside of a hotel that I was staying in and I had to go in through another door, I couldn't say "hello."'

'I grew up admiring him so much, so... I love that feeling,' the Dune: Part Two star admitted.

While the 32-year-old has plenty of time to mature into the category, with his characteristic locks and performances in alternative roles, such as Feyd-Rautha Harkonnen in Dune: Part Two, he's certainly on his way to becoming a certified GPM.
