Simone Biles and Team USA Gymnastics clinched gold in the women's team final on Tuesday - but there are many hidden details you might have missed about her stunning $5,000 leotard, from its sweet homage to its many crystals.

The 27-year-old was struggling with a calf injury, but still managed to compete in all four events, including the vault, uneven bars, balance beam and floor exercise.

Simone, who is married to NFL player Jonathan Owens, first saw the patriotic red, white and blue leotards she would be wearing alongside her teammates earlier this month.

'This is beautiful!' Biles said, with teammate Sunisa Lee next to her during the big reveal. 'You guys killed these leos!'

Here, FEMAIL uncovered all of the hidden meanings behind the crystal-emblazoned leotards Simone and her teammates, including Jordan Chiles, Suni and Jade Carey, wore to compete.

Simone is the most decorated American gymnast of all time, and was the oldest member of the team.

Her Swarovski creation would retail for about $5,000, according to Business Insider, who spoke to GK Elite lead designer Jeanne Diaz.

The leotard paid tribute to the famed 1996 US women's gymnastics team, which made history when it won the first-ever US team gold in the women's all around team.

Much of the win was credited to Kerri Strug's high memorable vault, which she epically landed even with a severely injured ankle.

The team, nicknamed the Magnificent Seven, wore leotards with the stars and stripes of the flag emblazoned across their shoulder.

Simone and her team wore leotards with blue stars on their shoulders created by GK Elite as an homage to the 1996 team.

The stunning design featured 9,929 crystals, which was a major departure from the 1996 bodysuit, which had no glitter at all.

The Team USA leotard uses different types of crystals cut into diamond shapes.

Simone is back in action in Paris after she withdrew from events at the 2020 games in Tokyo.

The gymnast later said she was suffering from 'the twisties' - a mental block that causes gymnasts to feel like they are 'lost in the air.'

Simone addressed her 'traumas and downfalls' as part of her Netflix documentary and how they could have potentially led to her getting injured if she didn't pull out.

The revealing docuseries Simone Biles Rising was released on July 17.
