A 40-year-old California chiropractor has been taken into custody after a camera was found inside the bathroom of the clinic where he worked.
Nicholas Vanderhyde, 40, was accused of child pornography after officials found a small camera taped inside a cabinet located directly across from the toilet at The Joint Chiropractic in Valencia.
During further investigation, they discovered the device was attached to a power bank - leading to suspicion that the camera was feeding a live video to the accused.
About 17 patients, including four minors, have since filed a lawsuit against Vanderhyde - claiming that he invaded their privacy by secretly recording them.
The staff member who found the camera said it was strategically pointed in a direction to capture anyone sitting down at the toilet.

'It was pointed directly at the toilet, so they were definitely aiming to record people using the bathroom, people's private parts,' said the employee.
According to ABC7, the camera was in place for three days before it was found.
Attorney Benjamin Ikuta also said that the police have confirmed that images captured by the tiny camera exist.
'We don't know if it was sent to a cloud or Bluetooth but we do know all the images exist.
'The police verified the images exist and that there were clear images of people undressing, using the bathroom, not just patients but minors as well,' he told ABC7.
The lawsuit also alleges that Vanderhyde engaged in sexual misconduct with some of the patients.

Janna Trolia, who is representing all of the patients in the lawsuit said: 'The treatment they received from Dr Vanderhyde was not what they would consider typical chiropractic treatment, which did include adjusting areas around and touching their genitals.
'This was a chiropractor with a known history of harassment and sexual misconduct in the past and The Joint knew about this history.'
One of the victims who has been identified as Alex F. said the group filed a lawsuit to make sure 'justice was served'.
'I couldn't believe it, I was terrified. I had reached out to the sheriff and had to give a description of my children and myself.
'I want justice to be served to this individual and to this establishment.
'I want to make sure no one ever does this. I want there to be better vigilance in all practices everywhere because this is horrific,' they said.

The Joint Chiropractic has since issued a statement that read: 'At The Joint Chiropractic, the safety of our patients and staff, and the integrity of the service we provide, are always our highest priorities. We are not at liberty to discuss ongoing legal matter'
Former patients have also claimed that Vanderhyde would always insist they use the restroom before their treatment.

While Vanderhyde no longer works at the clinic, he posted bail the same day he was arrested.
He was booked with a felony count of possession of obscene matter depicting a minor and a misdemeanor count of photographing a person in a room.
An investigation remains underway.
