Authorities said Alexis is blind in one of the eyes because he was beaten

'A blow left him blind in one eye, he has abnormalities in all four limbs from dragging the cart at an early age and his blood vessels are deformed from being used on the brick stepping stone,' Ojeda said.

The horse was named Alexis, in honor of Argentina national team and Liverpool soccer star Alexis Mac Allister because of the similarity in the red tone of their hair.

He was transferred to a farm and remains under the observation in hopes that someone will adopt him.

'All he has done is suffer and be exploited,' Ojeda said. 'Today must be the first day of peace that has passed.'
