Battery drainage can be a hindrance but there are some fail-safe steps iPhone users can take to prolong their device’s daily life.
People may not know that although using your iPhone does deplete the battery, more often than not it's the features running in the background that are doing more harm than good.
The advice comes as Apple has received criticism for its lithium-ion batteries which naturally degrade over time, reducing the charge a phone can hold to 80 percent.

Receiving notifications drains your battery by causing your phone display to light up
These three iPhone hacks can extend your phone’s battery prowess by up to 50 percent but if you find that they still aren’t working, it might be time to take your device to Apple and test the device and battery for power-related problems.
Receiving notifications throughout the day can cause your battery to drop because they light up your iPhone display each time they come through.
Depending on how many notifications you receive across text messages, phone calls and apps throughout the day can determine how quickly your battery levels decrease.
Additionally, if you have your sound turned on, these vocal alerts also use power to inform you that a notification has come through.
To disable unnecessary notices, go to the notification section under ‘settings’ and toggle ‘off’ the alerts for apps that you don’t use regularly.
Keeping your location on in the background can drain your phone's battery at a faster rate
Although you might be used to keeping your Bumble location services or Google Maps on all the time, this could actually be contributing to your iPhone’s drop in power.
This is because your GPS hardware requires more battery to run and its impact can often depend on the strength of the signal and the location’s accuracy.
For example, if you’re using Google Maps to share your location with someone else, the app is likely to be accurate, causing more drainage on your battery.
It’s therefore advised to turn off your location when you’re not using it by heading to the privacy and security section in settings and clicking on ‘location services’ where you can turn the feature off.
Keeping apps open can actually preserve your iPhone's battery. Closing out of apps will cause your phone to use more battery because it will need to re-load the data that accompanies the app
A common misconception is that keeping your apps running in the background will drain the battery, prompting many users to swipe up and close out of any open pages.
However, closing and re-opening apps use up more battery than just leaving them running.
This is because launching an app requires the phone to use a burst of energy to re-load the apps - much like turning the heat or AC off and on in your home.
The better option is to remove unused apps and regularly delete large files from your phone.
