Jason Whitlock has jumped to the defense of Harrison Butker after the Kansas City Chiefs were criticized for handing their kicker a new $25million deal.
On Monday, Butker and the Chiefs agreed a four-year contract extension that makes him the highest-paid kicker in the NFL.
However, it came just three months after Butker made headlines for a controversial commencement speech that he gave at Benedictine College in Kansas.
Butker urged men to 'fight against cultural emasculation' and claimed women are destined to be 'homemakers'. His speech was full of conservative views, not only on gender roles, but on abortion and vaccines as well.
The news prompted backlash among NFL fans, who accused the Chiefs of putting up with Butker's views because of his ability as a kicker.

But Whitlock, a conservative podcast host, hit back at one tweet that said players being rewarded regardless of their behavior off the field is 'the inherent truth of the NFL'.
Whitlock called Butker a 'celebrator of traditional marriage' and instead took a swipe at former Chiefs receiver Tyreek Hill, who recently signed a $90m restructured contract with the Miami Dolphins.
He called Hill a 'baby-mama factory' and added: 'Who is "putting up" with more, Dolphins or Chiefs? You can't make this stuff up. People are really this lost.'
Butker, a three-time Super Bowl champion, has become more vocal in recent years with his personal beliefs.
They included wearing a tie to the Chiefs' Super Bowl celebration at the White House last year with a pro-life Latin phrase on it. Butker's views are in opposition with President Joe Biden's pro-choice policies.

Butker, who made the game-winning field goal in Kansas City's Super Bowl victory two years ago, announced the deal on X, saying: 'There's no place I'd rather be than with the Chiefs, excited to finalize a 4 year extension. To the Heights!'
The 29-year-old, whose contract includes $17.75m guaranteed, negotiated the deal on his own without the help of agents or lawyers.
Butker set the Super Bowl record for longest field goal during the Chiefs' 25-22 overtime win over the San Francisco 49ers in Super Bowl LVIII earlier this year.
His 57-yard field goal with 5:01 left in the third quarter supplanted the previous record that had been set just one quarter earlier by 49ers rookie Jake Moody, who kicked a 55-yarder to give San Francisco an early 3-0 lead.
Originally drafted out of Georgia Tech by the Carolina Panthers in the seventh round of the 2017 NFL Draft, Butker has played all seven of his NFL seasons with the Chiefs.
In 107 career games, he has connected on 89.1 per cent of his field-goal attempts and 94.5 per cent of his point-after tries.
He's kicked field goals of 53 yards or longer in all seven seasons, with a 62-yarder in 2022.
