Only people with high IQs can solve this banana brainteaser in 7 seconds

A new brainteaser claims only people with high IQs can solve it in seven seconds.

The goal is to identify which string on the right side of the board leads to the one attached to the banana.

It is important to carefully look through the image instead of making a snap decision to decide between four possible strings.

These kind of puzzles can tell you a lot about how you think and view the world and can help you develop problem-solving and logical reasoning skills.

The picture shows a string wrapped around a banana and extending toward a wooden board with four strings labeled '1, 2, 3, 4' on the other side.

This answer may not be as simple as you think, with many people believing that the third string is the correct answer, according to Jagran Josh who created the optical illusion.

This is because the brain doesn't look at the picture in its entirety, but instead takes shortcuts, skipping over some sections so you can process the information faster.

It looks for the most basic information to identify what you're looking at, and guess what the full image is if it isn't complete.

In 2011, researchers from the University of Glasgow found that when something is unclear to the eye, the mind will predict what it's going to see and fill in the blanks.

'Effectively, our brains construct an incredibly complex jigsaw puzzle using any pieces it can get access to,' explained researcher Fraser Smith.

Therefore, if you look closely at the string options and draw a line between the banana and the board, you'll notice that the second string leads to the fruit.

Although most people choose the third string, the correct option is string number two

Because we live in a three-dimensional world, optical illusions can fool you because your brain doesn't get the same clues like depth, shading, lighting and position to help interpret what you see that you would get in your everyday life, according to the National Eye Institute.

A 2021 study revealed that the 'logic stress and limit stress generated during playing brain teaser games are positive stress, with a desirable effect on the players' attention.'

'These two types of stress improve cognitive abilities such as attention, concentration and problem-solving by activating the brain's frontal lobe,' the study continued to explain.

Other studies have shown that brain teasers do play an important role in helping memory and attention span as well as improve problem-solving skills, prevent cognitive decline and increase a person's mental agility - or ability to process information quickly.

These types of optical illusions are great tools to use if you want to promote stimulation in the brain and can help build visual and spatial reasoning skills.

The puzzle can be used to 'enhance the function of the prefrontal cortex, which plays an important role in cognitive abilities, such as thinking, decision-making, concentration, and problem-solving,' according to the National Institute of Health.

'It's really important to understand we're not seeing reality,' neuroscientist Patrick Cavanagh, a research professor at Dartmouth College told Vox in 2020.

'We're seeing a story that's being created for us.'
