A three-month-old Rochester boy was mauled to death by the family's two pitbulls after the parents 'left the infant alone to go and buy drugs.'

The baby 'suffered severe trauma' after the vicious attack on Saturday at a home at Bidwell Terrace. Police are now investigating what happened before the attack, officials said, Associated Press reported. 

Officers from the Rochester Police Department and emergency personnel arrived at the home around 1pm in response to a 911 call. At the scene CPR and other life-saving measures were performed on the 12-week-old.

The child was transported to Strong Hospital but died from the injuries he sustained 

Animal control officers seized the dogs from the home and believed the animals attacked the child.

The parents names were not disclosed. 

On Tuesday, Rochester radio WHAM 1180 reported that there has been no official comment made by the police. 

The child's death is now being investigated by Child Protective Services, the Rochester Police Department and the Monroe District Attorney's office.

As of Tuesday afternoon, there were no charges filed.

When DailyMail.com contacted the Monroe District's Attorney's office, they declined to speak.

An unidentified person from the DA's office told DailyMail.com,  'we have no information.' They also said the case was 'not in the system yet.'

When asked if that is typically the procedure as the tragedy happened Saturday, the person did not respond and hung up the phone abruptly.

There was mixed reviews from people in the community who heard the tragic news.

'Prayers for this little angel,' one person wrote.

Another asked:  'Will there be a punishment for these 'adults'?

'Absolutely heartbreaking,' said another. 

'How SAD ....... ROTTENCHESTER NEEDS HELP BAAADDDD!!!!'
