The UFC's Ramon Taveras says he's lucky to be alive after a 'group of armed men' opened fire on the 30-year-old MMA fighter outside a Florida home last week.
'It's unfortunate that I even have to make a post like this, but I cannot let this be swept under the rug,' Taveras (10-2-0) wrote in a social media post that included grainy doorbell camera footage of the purported shooting.
The video shows one man, presumably Taveras, walking outside into the front yard of a home before unlocking a car with a remote key. It's at that moment that several flashes of light shine out from a nearby SUV or van, which then speeds away as Taveras remained crouched safely behind the sedan in the front yard.
Taveras was fired at with a semi-automatic weapon, according to the Jacksonville police report provided to DailyMail.com.
On Instagram, Tavares went on to say that he lost his brother to gun violence in 2019 and criticized the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office for failing to catch the killer.

'This city is unforgiving, and it's worse that JSO does nothing to correct the problem,' Taveras wrote on social media. 'I lost my brother in 2019 due to gun violence, and his killers are yet to be caught. Now I find myself almost in the same situation.'
Jacksonville Sheriff's deputies have shared the July 29 police report to DailyMail.com, adding that 'our officers are actively investigating this matter and this case continues to be open as an active investigation.'
The city experienced 157 homicides in 2023 – 123 of which were the result of shootings.
'It is tragic that I have so much love for my city, yet I am compelled to leave,' Taveras wrote.
He went on to accuse Jacksonville police of insinuating that he was targeted in gang violence – something he firmly denies.

'They assumed I was targeted due to ''gang violence'' or a problem I caused,' Taveras wrote. 'I don't bother anyone, I stay in my own lane, I focus on my career and family. Even after explaining this, they continued to insinuate that I was involved in something that brought this outcome upon myself.
'Nobody is perfect and everyone has a past,' he continued. 'However, I have changed significantly from who I was 10 years ago.
'For such an incident to occur out of nowhere is alarming. It makes me view my life and family through an entirely different lens.
'This is a daily reality in my city; I am not the first, nor will I be the last.'
Taveras fought his way onto Dana White's UFC promotion through the televised 'Contender' series last October.
Since then, the bantamweight beat Serhiy Sidey by split decision at UFC 297 back in January.
