An Olympics athlete who competed while six months pregnant has opened up about the heartwarming 'good luck' message that her unborn baby gave her just moments before she achieved an epic win.

Archer Yaylagul Ramazanova, from Azerbaijan, 34, faced off against Chinese archer An Qixuan in Paris last week.

The women tied, forcing them to enter into a shoot-off - which meant they each had one arrow and whoever got the highest score with that arrow would make it through to the next round.

And just seconds before Yaylagul made her final shot, the expectant mother said she received a touching sign from the baby inside of her stomach.

'I felt my baby kick me before I shot this last arrow, and then I shot a 10,' she told Chinese outlet Xinhua News earlier this week.

The athlete said she believed the kick gave her 'strength and luck.'

She ended up winning thanks to her impressive score of 10, as her competitor only scored a nine.

Yaylagul told the publication that she felt like she was not 'alone' during the Olympics because she was 'fighting together with her baby.'

'During the training for the Olympics, I didn't feel uncomfortable with my pregnancy. Instead, I felt that I was not fighting alone, but fighting together with my baby,' she said.

The sports star was unfortunately eliminated during the next round, but she added that she was satisfied because she 'did her best.'

'I wanted to get a medal. Every athlete does but not everyone can, but that's OK as long as I did my best,' she continued.

'I will teach my kid archery if he or she is interested in it.'

While Yaylagul didn't walk away with a gold medal, she did win something else: the hearts of millions of people across the globe.
