The Cleveland Browns released AI-rendered images of a potential $2.4billion domed stadium for the team.

In a social media post, the franchise expressed favoring a relocation to Brook Park, on a site surrounded by new development, over renovating the current stadium in downtown Cleveland.

While the relocation of the team and construction of the new stadium is yet to be set in stone, fans are already split on the prospect of moving them to the suburbs and out of the city proper.

'No thanks. Team belongs in downtown Cleveland with tailgating in the muni lot,' one fan wrote. 'Suburban stadiums always fail anyway.'

'Its so ugly,' another added. 'Looks like a warehouse or church.'

'Nobody in Cleveland has ever said 'let's go to Brook park tonight and hang out,' a third added.

While many opposed the move and blasted the stadium's appearance, others insisted the relocation would be worthwhile.

'If you build it? They will come,' one fan suggested. 'It sure would be nice to host a superbowl for a chance. A dome will make it happen.'

'It's absolutely stunning,' said a fifth. 'Super Bowl in the Land!!!!'

In a letter sent to season ticket holders on Wednesday, the Browns outlined what they see as a 'transformational' opportunity to create a destination near Cleveland Hopkins International Airport.

'While significant work remains, the more we have explored the Brook Park option, the more attractive it has become,' David Jenkins, the chief operating officer of the Browns and Haslam Sports Group, wrote in the letter with the visual renditions.

'With Mayor Bibb releasing the city's latest proposal for a renovated stadium last week and the increased community dialogue around our stadium future … we feel it is the appropriate time for us to communicate directly and share an update,' Jenkins added.

He added that the existing stadium, which opened in 1999, needs significant updates to become a 'state-of-the-art facility that makes Cleveland proud.'

It would not be feasible to put a dome on the current stadium due to high costs and height restrictions imposed by the Federal Aviation Administration due to the lakefront site's proximity to Lakefront Airport.

The team has been exploring its options since 2017 and looked at several sites before narrowing to Brook Park and the Downtown lakefront. Both scenarios would have the Browns splitting the cost with taxpayers.

The Browns have not released a financing plan for the Brook Park proposal. However, they're focused on new funding streams – tax revenues created, for the most part, by the development in Brook Park – to cover the public fraction.
