A young Florida man has revealed how he caught a humongous 13-foot-long tiger shark and later swam with the predator in the middle of the night.

Mason Carson went fishing with some friends off the coast of Sarasota County when he caught the sharp-toothed shark.

'Typically, we get a lot of bull sharks, a lot of blacktips. During the winter time, we’ll get a lot of sandbar sharks, and occasionally, we’ll get tigers and hammers — but not typically tigers this big,' he said.

'It was definitely a surprise. We had quite a few rods and reels out at that point, and the rod that I actually caught the tiger shark on was kind of (for) smaller fish and smaller sharks.

'I had smaller bait put out and it just so happened that the smallest reel and the smallest bait got picked up,' he told ClickOrlando.

A video shared by the fisherman showed him daringly standing on the predator's head and repeatedly trying to open his jaw with both of his hands.

Carson later told the publication that after taking some images of the shark, he and his mates released the shark back into the water.

But rather than letting the fish swim away on it own, the young Floridian jumped into the ocean with it and began paddle along.

In another video shared by Carson, the daredevil can be seen holding on to the tiger shark's fin as he wades along.

In the past, the fisherman has managed to reel in a roughly 9-foot-long bull shark but this was the first time he caught a tiger shark.

He also told the Florida-based publication that the only reason he was sharing his one-of-a-kind success story was because of a bet he made with a friend.

'I bet in the Wawa parking lot with a buddy. He bet me 100 bucks that I couldn’t get on the news with my tiger shark.

'He was scrolling through Instagram and seeing a guy had a saw fish on the news, and he bet me 100 bucks that I couldn’t get on the news for my tiger shark.'
