Secret Service snipers were spotted guarding Kamala Harris and Tim Walz at their Wisconsin rally, in what was the first major outdoor presidential campaign since a gunman opened fire on Donald Trump

The Vice President and her running mate appeared before a crowd of 12,000 people less than a month after Trump was shot at in Butler, Pennsylvania, on July 13.

Last week, Secret Service director Ronald Rowe confirmed that all political candidates will receive similar 'counter sniper coverage moving forward'.

He also revealed that 'we are going to put all the resources out there to address any challenges that we have'.

It comes after shocking social media posts of Trump's shooter Thomas Crooks were revealed by the CEO of a social networking website.

According to Rowe, Trump's Pennsylvania rally was the first time a Secret Service counter sniper had been assigned to one of his events.

However, other law enforcement agencies have provided similar coverage at other campaign events.

The 20-year-old gunman, who struck Trump's right ear and killed a rally attendee, was killed by a single fatal shot from the counter sniper after he fired eight rounds from an AR-15 rifle.

Despite being urged to stop holding outdoor rallies, Trump reinforced that he will continue to do them on July 27.

Rowe agreed, stating: 'It’s on us to figure out what we gotta do to mitigate that', the Independent reports.

Earlier this week, Walz emerged as Harris' Vice President pick after a hotly-watched veepstakes in the two weeks after taking over Biden's campaign.

The 60-year-old father-of-two, who has been married to his teacher wife Gwen since 1994, joins the ticket in a victory for the far left of the party who were concerned about some of the other contenders' support of Israel.

In Minnesota Walz has codified the right to abortion, signed universal free school meals, legalized recreational marijuana and gave voting rights to former prisoners.

The former teacher is also credited with being the Democrat who started calling Republicans 'weird', a craze that has dominated the campaign since Joe Biden dropped out of the race last month.

Walz turned the North Star State into a refuge for LGBTQ Americans and has also backed making Minnesota the 13th 'sanctuary' state for undocumented migrants.

Republicans who feared the popularity of Shapiro celebrated Walz' announcement and slammed his 'woke' policies while Donald Trump's campaign called the governor a 'dangerous west coast wannabe'.
