A seagull is 'wanted' by the police after it stole a Massachusetts man's wallet at a grocery store and flew away with it.
Nantucket Memorial Airport manager Noah Karberg was at a Stop & Shop on August 4 when a seagull committed the shocking crime.
A camera taker caught footage of the seagull walking and flying away with the wallet while the wind blew Karberg's cash away.
'A seagull stole my wallet from the cart in a Stop & Shop parking lot. It was last seen in the airport, gas, and Stop & Shop area,' Karberg wrote on a Nantucket Year Round Community Facebook post.
'If you find it, you can keep the cash, and I'll offer a $100 cash reward for the return of my cards and license.'
A seagull is 'wanted' by the police after it stole and flew away with Noah Karberg's wallet at a Nantucket Stop & Shop
Karberg had spent the day fishing in Nantucket before he went grocery shopping at Stop & Shop.
Wearing a 'fishing shirt and board shorts,' Karberg placed his wallet and phone on the shopping cart tray before purchasing groceries.
'I do my shopping, and buy my groceries, come out to my truck, load most of my groceries onto the tailgate,' Karberg told NBC Boston on Tuesday.
'I take a last couple of bags around to the backseat, come back around to the shopping cart, and there is a gull sitting on the cart, and right in front of me, grabs my wallet, and flies off.'
The airport manager kept an eye on the seagull after it stole his wallet and claimed that it appeared to have an 'agenda.'
According to Karberg, the seagull removed the money from his wallet and kept his American Express card while on the roof of a carwash.
'I was thinking, "Oh my gosh, this is unreal, I gotta get my wallet back,"' Karberg said.
'I started chasing the gull across the parking lot like a crazy person, knowing I looked like an idiot, but I really wanted my wallet back.'
The seagull flew onto the roof of a nearby car wash after it snatched Karlberg's wallet. The Massachusetts man claimed it kept his American Express card, and took out his money
Unfortunately, the criminal seagull flew away with Karberg's wallet in his mouth, and the Massachusetts man has not seen it since.
'I have had a lot of people reach out to me, say they were sorry for me, but it was really funny,' Karberg said to NBC Boston.
'It has all been in good fun. The island has a pace in the summer. It can be frantic, people can get burned out, and I think this was a little bit of good fun that everyone had.'
A 'Wanted' for grand larceny image of the seagull was featured in the video obtained by Nantucket Current.
Anyone who spots the seagull with Karberg's wallet is advised to 'report to Nantucket Police Department (NPD) immediately.'
Karlberg told NBC Boston that a 'lot of people' reached out to him to apologize for what happened, and tell him it was 'hilarious'
The seagull is currently wanted for grand larceny after the August 4 incident at the Stop & Shop. Anyone who spots it should contact NPD immediately
This seagull is one of many that have stolen unusual items from individuals over the years.
Shoppers and stores in the UK have had items stolen by seagulls this summer, some being last month in Weymouth, Dorset.
A frequented seagull named Steve stole multiple snacks off the shelves of a convenience store in the English town.
'At the start, we thought it was quite funny, but now he has taken so many that it has become a bit of a problem,' shop supervisor Sally Toogood said.
'He took a few bags in one day, so our manager decided to put the sign up to try and make people shut the door and bring down the amount he takes.'
Karberg, a Nantucket Memorial Airport manager, has not gotten his wallet back despite his $100 reward offer to anyone who finds it
