Thomas Matthew Crooks spent copious amounts of time at a nearby gun club as sharpshooting became his profound obsession before he attempted to kill former President Donald Trump.

The would-be assassin visited the range 43 times went to target practice three to six times per month for a year before the assassination plot, according to bombshell new records obtained by Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa).

Clairton Sportsmen's Club turned over to Grassley the logs revealing the staggering amount of the time Crooks practiced his sharpshooting before he attempted to kill Trump.

The records obtained by DailyMail.com indicate he spent 80 percent of his time at the range doing rifle practice with long guns rather than handguns.

And the obsession even overshadowed his holidays as he spent Christmas Day, Valentine's Day and Halloween at the club in Clairton, Pennsylvania

A membership renewal card reveals that Crooks described himself as a 'dietary aide,' at a nursing home.

The 20-year-old used his father's AR-style weapon to fire from a nearby rooftop at a Trump tally in Butler, Pennsylvania on July 13.

A bullet grazed the former president's right ear, missing his brain by just millimeters. One rally goer was killed and two others were critically injured before the Secret Service neutralized Crooks.

The new information provided to Grassley reveals that Crooks' final visit to the shooting range was at 2:45 p.m. on Friday, July 12 the day before the shooting.

FBI Director Christopher Wray shared bombshell new details with Congress last month, including that Crooks had visited a shooting range the day before the rally.

Wray was unable to tell lawmakers if Crooks carried the gun to the rooftop just 400 feet from the stage or if he stashed it prior to climbing up.

He also said that Crooks and his family owned a combined 14 guns and the AR weapon he used to shoot at Trump was purchased legally by his father and sold to him in October 2023.

Still not much is known about Crooks or his motive for targeting Trump.

He had a very small to nonexistent social media footprint, was a registered Republican but donated in 2021 to a progressive group backing President Joe Biden.

The FBI recently revealed they found a social media account possibly tied to Crooks that could shine light on the motive behind his assassination attempt.

Congress dragged in the Secret Service's new acting head Ronald Rowe and the number two at the FBI, Deputy Director Paul Abbate, at the end of July to testify on the shooting.

Abbate revealed that at least one social media account on an unnamed platform believed to be associated with Crooks was discovered by the FBI. That account posted over 700 comments between 2019 and 2020, he added.

'Some of these comments ... appear to reflect anti-Semitic and anti-immigration themes to espouse political violence,' Abbate said.

But he wouldn't confirm the name of the social media platform until after his agents could prove with 100% certainty Crooks made the posts.

Abbate said the posts were 'extreme in nature,' but that the FBI is still determining whether the account actually belonged to Crooks.

He also disclosed that the agency is still working to identify and infiltrate Crooks's various 'encrypted' accounts that could shine light on his motive.

That angered Sen. Lindsey Graham who wanted more information on his. motive.

'So you're telling me, the guy that took eight shots at the president, former president, has apps that we can't get into, that may if you could get into [them] reveal some relevant information.'

'That is correct, senator,' the officials responded.

This concerned Graham who later pushed for better methods to infiltrate encrypted accounts.

'We need a solution that provides lawful access,' the officials noted, inferring current options only provide illegal entry into Crooks's suspected accounts.
