A potentially pricey trust exercise has left viewers stunned after a viral video showed a designer pair of slides left at the beach, completely unattended.
TikTok creator Kira Mintzer posted the 10-second clip in June, showing the pair of iconic black Hermes slides sitting on the sand at an East Hampton beach while their owner had gone for a swim.
'Only in the Hamptons will you see a pair of Hermes Orans left unattended at the beach while someone goes and frolics in the ocean because no one's gonna take them,' the voiceover explained in the clip.
Kira, who grew up in New York and vacations often in the Hamptons, had the simple explanation of 'because it's the Hamptons,' as to why the sandals were left exposed and alone.
Users were agog at the expensive leap of faith, jokingly saying they would happily travel to bag a five-fingered discount on the New York coastline.

'Books flight, Hamptons I'll be there soon baby. Leave the Guccis too,' one user joked.
'You should take them just to shake things up a bit,' added another.
'I think it's more that they don't care if they were lost or stolen,' another guessed.
'I wanna be that rich where I leave Hermes sandals behind like they're some Walmart sandals,' someone else commented.
'I feel like it's an unspoken rule not to take shoes on the beach cause obviously they belong to someone,' another user chimed in.
'It's def an unspoken rule,' Kira responded. 'Some people didn't learn the rules growing up!'
In a follow up clip, Kira responded to a comment which read: 'Now I know where I'm taking my vacation. Watch out Hamptons.'
'Yesterday I posted a video that someone left their Hermes Orans on the beach in East Hampton and everyone was like: "Girl, why didn't you steal them?"'

'Why didn't I take them?' she asked. 'Because they're not mine.
'I know many of you are joking and you left really funny comments, but like I fear there's some people who are actually being serious,' she added.
In a comment, Kira added that some viewers did not pass 'the vibe check.'
'We don't ~steal~ here,' she wrote.
The Hermes Oran slides, which retail for $760, have been a staple in the luxury fashion house since 1997.
The sandals are one of the luxury brand's most recognizable products and come in a range of colors.
The Hamptons has long been the place to be seen over summer, with many New York City residents opting to flee the stifling heat of Manhattan and flock to the South Fork of Long Island every single year.
Locations such as Sag Harbor, Montauk, and Bridgehampton are hugely popular, with many celebrities choosing to purchase property there, including Jennifer Lopez, who was recently seen enjoying a bike ride near her lavish Long Island mansion.
