Artistic swimming star Daniella Ramirez, from Miami, Florida, recently revealed her intense routine to stop her hair from getting wet and shocked the internet in the process.

'It's to keep the hair in place while we swim and it's purely for aesthetic reasons,' the swimmer explained, adding that, 'it's sticky and dries hard.'
She explained that while they use swim caps at practice, 'it looks better to swim this way to fit a theme.'

The swimmers apply a thick layer of the unflavored gelatin, since it dissolves in the water and they want to have a slick bun for the entirety of the routine.
In a previous Instagram video, the Olympian showcased her hair routine which left her followers both stunned and confused.
'How on earth do you get this out of your hair?' one baffled commenter who had not seen the peelies asked.
'Omg wouldn't baby oil or coconut oil give the same effect without making it impossible to remove?' another wondered, although those ingredients would dissolve in the pool.
Another fan questioned, 'Is the purpose of Knox gelatin in your hair to protect it from the pool chemicals and keep everything in place?' which is exactly what the product does while the performers go through their elaborate routine, which involves moonwalking underwater.
