New York's oldest resident has gotten candid as she admitted that the reason she has lived up to 112 years old is because she never got married or had kids.

Louise Jean Signore was born in Harlem in 1912 and dedicated nearly four decades of her life to the Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) as an employee.

After the four-foot-five Italian-American woman spent 39 years at the MTA, she saw all four of her younger siblings pass away as the years went by.

Now, Louise has rung in her 112th birthday and has detailed her advise for living a happy and long life.

She confessed that she credited her more than 100 years of living to remaining single.

While speaking to the New York Post,  Louise explained that her life of longevity is because she ditched men, booze and children.

She told the outlet: 'That's why I am living. That's why I am OK because I didn't get married… no marriage, no children. I'd rather be single.'

She added that when you got married you had 'trouble.'

And her stress and men-free life has helped her outlive her siblings and pals.

Louise also said that she has remained healthy by not smoking or drinking and focused on her health even further after retiring from the MTA at 65, according to News 12.

'I don't smoke, I don't drink,' she said.

She also makes sure to take charge of her own health and focuses on making herself feel good by prioritizing naps and delicious Italian food.

'It's my body. Nobody tells me what to do. I do what I think is best. It works,' she said.

As far as her diet goes, Louise said she also didn't have any coffee.

'I don't have much, I have eggs, I have bread with jam and tea, but that's it. No coffee, I don't drink coffee,' she added.

Louise said she now just enjoys watching TV and seeing the neighborhood kids play.

She told the outlet: 'I enjoy when it's a nice day and the aides take me out.… I am too old to do anything special.'

The 112-year-old celebrated her birthday last week alongside her nephew and her neighbor, Francis Perkins.

And Louise's luck continued as she was gifted a lottery ticket for the big day by her neighbor and she won a whopping $50.

Louise recalled her life growing up and even revealed that the world was 'safer' during the Second World War than it was today.
