A pair of brazen thieves stole a bike and a package containing human ashes from an apartment complex in crime-plagued New Orleans.
The two unidentified suspects were caught on camera casually strolling into a Dauphine Street apartment complex on July 18. One is shown wheeling out Katrina Brees' decorated three-wheeled bike before noticing a package on a chair and snagging that, too.
The plain-looking package contained the ashes of a tenant's niece, she told WWLTV.
'I watched them look at my package, give it a second glance before leaving, and pick it up as an afterthought,' said the tenant, who declined to be identified.
Footage shows the suspect, wearing a white shirt, walking into the building and glancing around.
He eventually lets the second suspect, who is wearing a blue suit, into the building.

The building's front door is locked, neighbors said, believing the brazen thieves followed a mailman inside.
The New Orleans Police Department said on Thursday that it is still searching for the suspects.
The theft has left residents like Brees feeling anxious, she said, as it isn't the first time her complex has been targeted.
'Seeing it happen just filled my body with panic that lasted for days,' she told WWLTV. 'It has really been plaguing our building for a long time.'
In November, five other decorated bikes were taken from the lobby, Brees said.

The Krewe of Kolossos launched a GoFundMe page to help replace the missing bikes, which are famously used in Mardi Gras celebrations.
'The thieves took the trikes that were functional and left behind trikes that were mostly non-functioning and in need of repairs. With the best of our trikes gone, and the remains in need of repairs, we need financial help to rebuild,' the fundraisers wrote.
They estimate the cost of each bike will be around $700 and take 50 to 100 hours to sculpt.
