A woman who lives in Paris has left the web shocked after showing off her ultra-tiny apartment that costs her $530 a month.

Natalia Vega moved from Peru to the City of Lights in December 2021 and has since been posting about her fun-filled life as a student in France on her Instagram account, where she has garnered more than 54,000 followers.

And while the communications student loves to flaunt her incredible days online, life in Paris isn't always as enchanting as it seems.

Behind the glitz and glamour of the glistening Eiffel Tower, Natalia unveiled the reality of living in Paris, which has been hit with soaring costs of living.

She took to Instagram to show off her 97-square-foot apartment, which is located in the city's stunning 7th arrondissement.

Natalia took the person behind the camera up the seven flights of stairs before she showed off her mini apartment.

She joked: 'Welcome to my mansion.'

The student's apartment featured a twin-sized bed that sat against the wall, a small kitchen that was directly next to the bed and a tiny bathroom.

Because of the small amount of room, Natalia had to get creative and use her kitchen counter as a desk.

There is one window in the apartment, which sits just above her bed.

The person behind the camera asked Natalia how she was able to reside in the small space.

She responded: 'I don't know.' She also revealed that she had been living there for two years.

People on the web flocked to the comments section and expressed their shock at her apartment.

One person said: 'She doesn't live in Paris, she survives.'

Another user added: 'I still don't understand the pleasure to live in Paris at this point.'

Someone else wrote: 'What the f! That's not living.'

'So she lives in a closet, typical France,' a fourth commented.

According to Economic Intelligence, Paris is the second most expensive city worldwide to live in.

A combination of it being one of the most-visited cities and it being an economic hub has made residing in the French capital come with a high price tag.

'On average, prices for goods and services have risen by 3.5% year-on-year, the highest inflation rate seen in the last five years,' Economic Intelligence revealed.

The average cost of rent in Paris is $818, which is $288 more than what Natalia is paying.

Natalia shared how she really felt about her home while speaking to Newsweek

She told the outlet: 'I'm studying communications in Paris and my school has a database for housing, so it was really easy for me to rent the apartment.

'Since those kinds of places are for students, I didn't mind taking it because I tend to spend the whole day at school and I just go there to sleep.

'Despite the apartment being 9 square meters, I have my own toilet, washing machine and even a kitchen. Sometimes, those renting these types of rooms, known in France as chambre de bonnes, have to share toilets, don't have washing machines or even kitchenettes.'
