A Hooters waitress has revealed that while there are plenty of upsides to the job - such as the astronomical tips - the role still has its disadvantages.

Maia Marie, 23, previously shocked her 25,000 social media fans with the more than $450 she raked in on just one half shift at the chain.

But despite the obvious advantages of the role she took to TikTok to share its downsides - including creepy ogling men.

In a viral video, which has since amassed over 2.8 million views, she revealed all about the long-standing American restaurant chain.

And her biggest dislike of her waitressing role - the 'creepy' men who frequent the establishment.

'I always knew men were weird but when I started working at Hooters it unlocked a whole another level,' she said.

'I'm not saying all men are bad, mine isn't I love him. There are men that will really like make you uncomfortable and not even realize what they're doing.'

According to Maia, the second con of the job is also that it requires you to be 'bubbly' come rain or shine.

'You have to be ready to put that fake smile on  if you're having a bad day push it out the window and that can be a lot sometimes,' Maia added.

'It's a lot for me as somebody whose social batter runs out very fast but you have to remember what you are getting at the end of it.'

Quipping that the cold stores were also a downside of the role, she also revealed another 'rare' gripe that may arise if you decide to pursue a career at Hooters.

Explaining that it is dependent on the location you work, Maia explained that the environment in certain restaurants can become tense.

'There are girls that are going to be competitive there are girls that are gonna want to skip you in the rotation,' she divulged.

'Some girls that are going to want to take the tip that was left for you off your table.'

She urged potential future Hooters waitresses to be 'very conscious' or who they are working on shift with.

Maintaining she has only had one instance like this with a co-worker, she added: 'Needless to say nine times out of ten the girls that you work with are there for the same reason you are and are going to be really cool.'

However working at the American restaurant chain isn't all negative as Maia pointed out several positives that come with the role beyond the generous tips.

Even though the waitressing job has always seen her 'walk out with money' she explained that a big advantage to the job was the friendships.

Although working at Hooters can be competitive and the customers can be 'creepy' - according to Maia - she insists the job helped build her confidence

Although working at Hooters can be competitive and the customers can be 'creepy' - according to Maia - she insists the job helped build her confidence

'I have met some of the best girls working at Hooters. My manager is one of my best friends now,' she said.

The job has also brought her out of a shell more and helped build her confidence further.

'Being expected to come into work with your make-up done, your hair looking nice - it literally makes you feel good. It makes you want to be at work.'

The final pro - according to Maia - is being able to were fancy dress for big holiday events, including Halloween.

'On holidays you just dress up, you can dress up for Halloween however you want. We have bikini days, bikini weeks, you can dress up for Veterans Day,' she explained.

'It's just a confidence booster and it has nothing to do with the men there.'
