Rachael Gunn has criticised the decision to axe breakdancing from the Olympic Games.

Gunn, who goes by the stage name Raygun, went viral following her performance at the inaugural women's event in Paris over the weekend, in which she scored three straight zeros from the judges

The university lecturer was ruthlessly mocked for her 'embarrassing' performance on the sport's Olympic debut, with her mental health being monitored amid the online onslaught.

Raygun has also been publicly backed following her performance - in which she hopped like a kangaroo and shushed her rivals - with Prime Minister Anthony Albanese crediting her for giving the event her best shot.

But sports fans will not be seeing more of Raygun at the Olympic Games, with breaking dropped from the schedule for the Los Angeles bonanza in 2028.

The decision was made before the Paris Games, and Gunn was one of several breakers to criticise the move.

'It was disappointing it was decided that it wouldn't be in LA, particularly before we even had a chance to show it,' she said earlier this month.

'That was possibly a little premature. I wonder if they're kicking themselves now?'

Gunn also took aim at more established Olympic sports while defending breaking.

She added: 'What is an Olympic sport? What are the similarities between dressage and artistic swimming and the 100m sprint and the pentathlon?

'Breaking is clearly athletic, it clearly requires a whole level of dedication across a number of different aspects. It's really bringing a new level of excitement.'

Raygun has dominated the conversation since her infamous performances in Paris, with music superstar Adele stopping her concert in Munich to discuss the Aussie's routine.

'I am not saying anything, but I think it's the best thing that has happened at the Olympics for the entire time,' Adele told her fans.

'Did anyone see the breakdancing lady?

'Now I didn't even know breakdancing was an Olympic sport these days. That is f***ing fantastic. I really really do.

'Aaron my percussionist is p***ing himself laughing just thinking about it.'

Adele went on to reveal she is unsure whether Raygun was a serious entrant into the competition, with many fans comparing her moves to that of Mr Gee from Aussie comedy Summer Heights High.

'I can't work out if it was a joke but either way it has made me very very happy and me and my friends have been s***ing ourselves laughing for nearly 24 hours.

'I just wanted to know if you have seen it. If you haven't seen it please leave the show and google it because it is LOLZ.

'It is so f***ing funny and is my favourite thing that has happened in the Olympics this whole whole time.'
