New York Jets owner gave Aaron Rodgers a bizarre gift from British royals to convince him to join team

The New York Jets wanted Aaron Rodgers more than some fish need water. To what extent did team owner Woody Johnson go to court the four-time NFL MVP to The Big Apple?

While putting on the full-court press to Rodgers in his Malibu home alongside other needle-movers within the Jets organization, Johnson gave his future quarterback honey from the queen's garden. 

The prized nectar from Queen Elizabeth II's garden lived on after her passing in 2022. 

According to The Royal Family, the late queen heavily valued the honey produced by Buckingham Palace beehives.  

Johnson knew how to get his hands on the honey after serving as the United States ambassador to the United Kingdom during the administration of former President Donald Trump.

The revelation of the honey hand-off is in an upcoming biography of Rodgers entitled 'Out of the Darkness: The Mystery of Aaron Rodgers'. 

A short time after the honey-traded meeting, Rodgers made his desires to leave the Green Bay Packers for the New York Jets known. 

After a few more weeks, Rodgers' move to New York was complete. 

Rodgers purchased the Malibu home when dating then-girlfriend and motorsports icon Danica Patrick in 2019. 

The Jets' investment has not paid off thus far, as Rodgers suffered a season-ending Achilles injury four snaps into last season. 

Now, the 40-year-old Rodgers is healthy and ready to give season No 2 in New York a shot. 

Rodgers has not said how he used the queen's honey, or whether it made it to the New York area with him.
