A 10-acre private island featuring a five-bedroom home, boat dock and personal helicopter pad has hit the market for £21.9million, making it the priciest listing in the Middle and Lower Florida Keys.
Howell Key is an off-grid sanctuary island situated off of mile marker 25 in Summerland Key, according to listing agent Ocean Sotheby's International Realty.
The breathtaking 'island oasis' boasts a pickle ball court, saltwater pool, and a fully furnished five-bed, four bathroom property, as well as a guest house.
The entire island, which is situated just a five-minute boat ride from nearby Summerland Key, is self-sufficient and energy efficient, being powered by solar energy.
The island also offers residents and visitors direct access to both the Atlantic Ocean and Gulf of Mexico.

In addition to its several bedrooms and bathrooms, the main house features a spacious open-floor kitchen, dining and living area.
It was constructed using SIPS panel technology and has exposed beam ceilings and travertine tile throughout. It also has a saltwater swimming pool.
There is a guest house, garage, animal pens, pickleball court, tiki hut with beach, helipad, and finger dock with a covered sitting area on the island.
Howell Key is also equipped with a wastewater recycling system and a 50,000-gallon freshwater tank with a reverse-osmosis water filtration system.

'The layout of the house is for outside living mostly,' managing broker Sebastian Del Negro told Mansion Global.
'You have AC split units but they barely use them, because you have nice fresh ocean air all the time.'
He added: 'Everything is very eco-fantastic. It's an amazing property.'
Since the property can only be reached via boat or helicopter, it has a fenced-in parcel on one of the larger keys were residents can park their vehicles.
There is also a 58-foot seawall 'to accommodate your personal ferry'.

The property is being sold by a Canadian real estate family, Del Negro told the outlet, declining to provide further details.
The family purchased the island through a trust in 2010 for $1.2million and built the home and its various amenities around 2014.
The listing states that a second ROGO exempt permit 'allows for the construction of another dream home' on Howell Key.
'Nowadays, constructing a home on an island in the Florida Keys is nearly impossible, which makes Howell Key truly unique,' listing agent Rebecca Lacey added.
'It is an ideal slice of paradise for those looking to live out their island dreams or invest in a premium vacation rental experience.'

Howell Key has had several notable owners over the years
Howell Key has had several notable owners over the years, including Monroe County Sheriff Berlin A. Sawyer, who built a retirement home on the island in the early 1950s.
A larger portion of the island was later sold to inventor Mark H. Rhodes, Creative Loafing Tampa Bay reported.
Rhodes retired on the island after having become wealthy for creating a mechanical timer used in parking meters and home appliances.
