A woman has shared footage of the shocking moment she found her exact prom dress at a thrift store - 13 years after she sold it.

Jillea Godin frequently takes to TikTok to show off the stunning costumes that she creates.

The Canadian artist shares her creations with her more than 490,000 followers as she has been dubbed the 'crazy costume lady' of social media because of her love of cosplaying.

Recently, the 30-year-old took to the video-sharing platform to give fans some sentimental news as she revealed that she found the same dress she wore to her high school dance while thrift shopping.

In a viral video, which has so far amassed 1.1 million views, Jillea showed the moment she found the exact blue gown she sported at prom as she admitted that the dress - that she had once purchased for a whopping $900 - now cost $24.99.

She shared the moment she and her mom were taken aback by the coincidence.

Jillea captioned the clip: 'It's not weird it's at the thrift store, however, it is weird that I am the person that found it a week after moving back out east over a decade later??! (sic)'

In the clip, she captured how she saw her blue-and-white cheetah print dress hanging on a rack at the thrift store.

'Guys, the craziest thing just happened to me at the thrift store,' she said.

'That's right after moving home - after 12 years living in Toronto. I found my actual prom dress.

'Fourteen years ago, I bought this prom dress in Miami and I was living in New Brunswick. This is my exact prom dress - same size, same brand and it's altered.'

Jillea explained that the gown was originally a size six, but she had it altered down to a size two.

'I'm 30 years old and I just found it at Value Village,' she said before sharing snaps of herself donning the dress at her high school prom.

She explained that after dancing the night away in the unique gown, she sold it on Facebook Marketplace.

Now, 14 years later, 'by some act of God,' Jillea found the gown again and decided to purchase it once again.

She revealed that since she always made costumes, she didn't know whether she should preserve the gown or redesign it.

'Welcome home baby,' she said as she clutched the dress in her hands while checking out.

When she got home, Jillea tried the dress on and found that it still fit like a glove.

At the end of the clip, she twirled around as she grinned from ear-to-ear.

People on the web flooded the comments section and expressed their shock over the stunning reunion.

One person said: 'Love that it came back to you!!'

Someone else wrote: 'The fact it still fits perfectly is a flex.'

Another person commented: 'The ultimate goodwill find.'

'Keep it please,' a fourth user added.

While speaking to Newsweek, Jillea revealed that she didn't realize so many people would see her video - adding that she thought the chance find was 'fate.'

She told the outlet: 'I made the video thinking people probably wouldn't care or believe me, or think I planted it, but to my surprise, everyone had the same reaction as me.

'It was fate. I thought of it as a sign I was supposed to move home after all this time.'

Now, she revealed she was going to upcycle the dress and turn it into a costume she could wear again and again - adding the finding her prom dress again has made her 'emotional.'
