Man, 20, dies in freak accident after touching a live wire in Mississippi

A 20-year-old man who married the love of his life just over a year ago died tragically after touching a live wire while working on power poles in Mississippi.

Jayton Stahlhut, a worker contracted with energy company EXO, died after being electrocuted on the the job in Prentiss, Mississippi, WLBT reported.

The Jefferson Davis County Coroner identified Stahlhut as the victim of a fatal workplace accident. 

He is survived by his wife, Erin Stahlhut, who he married last year.

Born in Tennessee in 2003, Jayton moved to Checotah, Oklahoma in 2018. He graduated from Checotah High School in 2022 and married in 2023, his obituary said.

An Eagle Scout and animal lover, Jayton enjoyed hunting, fishing, and video games. 

'Jayton was always happy, smiling and was known to be one most compassionate people, who cared about everything and everyone,' his obituary said.
