USA rugby sensation Ilona Maher revealed her Olympic bronze medal is already starting to wear.

The 28-year-old sat down for an interview on Late Night With Seth Meyers on Monday, and brought her new piece of hardware along to show the comedian.

Maher pulled the medal out of a red, white and blue case - which was knitted for her by British diver Tom Daly - and revealed she's been wearing it 'a lot' since her team's 14-12 victory over Australia last week.

'It is heavy and it does kind of weigh on the neck,' she told Meyers.

'It's a fun burden to bear,' she went on, as she noted it was already 'wearing a little bit.'

It comes a few days after fellow Team USA star, Nyjah Huston, revealed the poor condition of his Olympic medal just one week after he was awarded it in Paris.

The 29-year-old skateboarder bagged a bronze medal in the French capital, falling behind gold medalist Yuto Horigome of Japan and fellow American Jagger Eaton in the men's street final.

Days after returning Stateside, Huston took to Instagram to share his thoughts on the quality of the hardware.

'Alright, so these Olympic medals look great when they're brand new,' he said in a social media clip.

'But after letting it sit on my skin with some sweat for a little bit and letting my friends wear it over the weekend,' Huston went on.

Huston's bronze medal from Paris started chipping after his celebrations in the States

The lack of quality in the medal was clearly evidenced by the bronze color chipping away from several areas of the piece.

'They're apparently not as high quality as you'd think,' he said, as he zoomed in. 'It's looking rough.'

While the back of the medal was significantly more damaged, the front was not safe from the chipping either, as Huston flipped it over for the camera.

'I don't know, Olympic medals, we gotta step up the quality a little bit,' he concluded.
